Wagging Tails Make a Home Happier!

Pet care experience

I’ve been a *dog mom* for a long, long time. Our pack currently includes two English bulldogs & a mastiff mix, my husband, a full-time teenager, and weekend visitations with my husbands two teenaged sons. Our fur babies run the full spectrum of personalities... Boomer is the stereotypical lazy bulldog, his brother Bandit is a practical joker, and their *little sister* Grace Ann is our resident scaredy cat! With their varying needs & sensitivities it’s safe to say that I’ve seen almost everything. One of our boys is white with the skin irritations that go along with the breed’s extra sensitivity & Grace is prone to ear infections if preventative maintenance isn’t performed carefully, so I’m no stranger to finding creative ways to coax down pills or con a big girl into getting ear drops. Bulldogs aren’t for the faint of heart with their need for some extra TLC around faces, tails, and those tender little toes. Not to mention LOTS of reassurance during storms & fireworks! It might sound crazy, but I’m glad we ended up with them. I hate to think they might have ended up with a family who doesn’t appreciate their foibles. I’ve been lucky enough to live in a house full of pets since birth!!! Our personal responsibilities for caretaking began around age 10 or 11 with a cocker spaniel named Nellie. Since then there have been dogs, cats, a guinea pig, multiple hamsters, three mice, plus an assortment of aquarium-dwellers (fish, crabs, newts, and the like!). We like critters. I’m prone to say that pets belong in homes where they’re treated like family. I love when they’re allowed to express their individuality. Our Bandit is a prime example... he makes such a game out of everything, from his dancing & after-dinner-zoomies to barking at the video games the boys are playing to making “doggy trails” in our backyard that he HAS to follow to get to different parts of the yard. It’s all fun & games alllll the time for him. He’s the polar opposite of his beautiful big brother who embodies self-containment & respectability. Grace & Bandit love visitors but hate going out into the world. Grace will accompany us on walks, but it’s a labor of love for her as she’s far happier playing in the backyard or chasing the ball down the long hallway. Boomer would sleep 20 hours a day if left to his own devices, but he’s my go-buddy; he’s always up for a car ride and loves walks. I love that they’re all different. I’m lucky to have these babies to take care of just the way they need. I’d love the opportunity to meet your babies & see to their needs, too!

Jennifer has owned pets for as long as I have known her and has always been very good with them. She is even sometimes watches my old English Bulldog when I work overtime or on the weekends. He normally doesn’t do well in kennels or with other dog sitters but he just loves her to death. Couldn’t recommend her enough.

Jennifer is great with animals. She always treats them like her family and children. She is always kind and loving, yet firm with her own fur babies. She loves play, petting, and loving them. She is extremely patient and works diligently to ensure the animals in her care have a great time. She is very responsible and will provide great care. The only care better would be your own care.

I prefer to keep overnight guests in our home rather than yours because I have my own pack to play with! Boomer, Bandit, and Gracie are fun-loving and active. Our back yard offers a safe haven of smells and activities. It’s privacy fenced with a chain-link partition (for the protection of my tomatoes and carrots) that can be used for isolation if the need arises. Ours are inside dogs who get along well. When we leave poor little Bandit has to go to baby jail because he makes bad life choices. Gracie loves her crate and retreats to it often with chewies or bones when she needs a time out, but she has an open-door policy. Boomer free-ranges (read: sleeps the whole time we’re gone) but mostly stays in our bedroom. If I’m home he’s under my feet. Always. All three babies are mine in the mornings. Gracie & Bandit have itty bitty bladders, so she gets a walk in the wee small hours & Bandito gets up around 6 a.m. He & Boomer tend to breakfast & then go back to bed for a while, but once Grace Ann is up for the day she’s up! During the week I don’t have to be at the office until 9:00 so we can hang out, attend to any grooming, and practice our tricks & start our day quietly. Plus she’s always hoping there’ll be a last bite of banana or toast crust to be had! Mine get some pup-safe people food pretty much daily (Greek yogurt for the boys, fruit & veggies while I’m packing my lunch or cooking dinner, soup made from beef or chicken trimmings to go over their dry food) but I’m hyper-aware of their individual needs and no-no’s. And I’m respectful of the dietary needs &/or restrictions of guests. I’d never offer a treat to one of mine if it wasn’t allowed for a client’s pet. My son does our middle-of-the-day walking and dog-caring. He’s been super active in taking care of Bandit for years, ferrying him back and forth to the vet bi-weekly after eye surgeries & administering midday medicines when needed. Even on workdays our dogs are only unsupervised during the mid-morning hours and then late afternoon for tops a couple hours between him leaving for work & me getting home. My husband is the best at rough play and ball throwing, so active pups will have an outlet for their energy!
