Hi! I'm Jen and I'm here to offer a safe space/option for my LGBTQIA+ siblings and their furry families. ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜🩷 Who we let in our homes and in to our pets lives is an important and sometimes nerve wracking choice. Especially these days. I hope to be a trusted friend to your whole family. I've been lucky enough to be surrounded by the love of so many cats and dogs my entire life (that's 45 years)! I grew up taking care of the family cats and later on in life, the family dogs. I've been an informal pet sitter for family and friends for cats and dogs for years and am so excited to grow my furry friend community here on Rover. Ideally I'll be a regular care-taker to dogs and cats in and around Howard County and I hope your furry friend will be one of them! I am perusing a career as a dog behaviorist/trainer. I will be in a formal Apprenticeship Program at The Coventry School beginning in April, 2024! I seem to have a talent for building relationships with dogs (and cats) and I hope to put that talent and training to use for the benefit of every dog I hang out with✨

Jennifer housesit and watched our dogs for a week while away on vacation. She was outstanding in every way - she had excellent communication both before and during the sitting - requesting all key information needed in advance, and sending detailed updates and pictures for all scheduled walks, visits, and overnights. Her love of animals and the bond she deleveloped with our pups was evident as was her patience, personality, and sense of humor. She went above and beyond introducing new treats and toys throughout the visit and also took excellent care of our home. We have found our new go-to sitter.
Jen did an outstanding job taking care of our two dogs while we were away. One is very old and has developed some peculiar eating habits and the other is a bit fearful. Jen understood and respected the needs of both dogs. They were so well taken care of in our absence. Jen is a caring, conscientious dog whisperer and we will use her again!
Jen has truly been our savior the past couple of weeks! She was caring for our two kitties while we were away on a planned vacation, and then we had a medical emergency out of the country which delayed our return by almost a week. Jen was so flexible and rearranged her schedule to be able to continue to care for our cats until we could get home. She truly saved us! She is an excellent communicator, always sending detailed updates and pictures of her visits- it’s so obvious how much she cares for animals and both of my cats loved her- lots of snuggles, head butts and affection with her. Do not hesitate to call Jen as she is a 10/10 pet sitter!
Jen is an amazing pet sitter! I cannot say enough about how well she cared for our two cats while we were out of town. I have one cat with special medical issues who requires both oral and injected meds, and Jen handled her complicated situation with the utmost care! She is incredible in her communication and always sent me detailed updates and pictures from her visits. On top of being highly qualified, she has such an evident love for animals. She snuggled my cats on every visit and even got my shy kitty to become her friend. Do not hesitate to call Jen if you want the best care for your family pets! We (and Izzy and Oscar) are already looking forward to her next visits!

I do a lot of overnights with dogs and cats. It's a part of my own lifestyle and brings me a lot of joy to step into the life of a happy pet. I'll want all the details on the daily routine, the quirks and the uniqueness of your loved one(s). I work to get into the flow of your routine in order to keep as much "normal" as possible. Working to keep your time away as stress-free as possible is the ultimate goal. I am a yoga and meditation teacher, and I've noticed that animals respond deeply to the calming energy I offer them ✨ I am happy to hang out, play and walk your dogs at your home, any of the local parks, out on the nearby neighborhood paths or even on local hiking trails if that suits you and your pet's needs. If there are cats in the picture, yay! I love love love cats. And I appreciate getting to know the unique personality and likes/dislikes of each cat I get to hang out with. And, when I'm at your home - I treat it like my own and leave it better than I found it. A Leave No Trace mentality.

What is your pet's daily routine? General health condition and any specific needs related to health What are the conditions that are best for your pal? Do you have specific training protocols already in place? How much activity does your pal need or want? Is there anything to be aware of as behavioral triggers for your pal? What sets them off? What keeps them calm? Tick/flea protection? Have you taken the precautions needed to keep them safe? How is your dog on a leash? I am a firm believer in dogs on leashes for the sake of everyone's safety.
A typical day
I live in the Clarksville, MD area where we are surrounded beautiful paths and lakes to walk (or jog?!) around. I also know of secret swim spots that I know dogs love to play in - if their parents would allow it, and if weather allows. Though I love and care for dogs (and cats) of all shapes, sizes, and ages I tend to match best with large active dogs that have a lot of energy to burn throughout the day. I am looking for jogging buddies so if your dogs want and need activity - I'd be a great pal for them! If you have a fenced in yard, I can play catch all day long. If a bath is needed I am more than happy to make sure we're all clean and dry before getting comfy and settling in for the night.

Availability
I work several jobs, including a robust dog walking schedule for tons of pups in and around Howard County. My schedule is both very busy and somewhat flexible. Looking forward to chatting to see if we're a good fit! In general my availability will be 8pm-8am for overnight visits. But depending on your pet's needs, mid day visits may be an option (additional fee could apply).
