Loving home close to DIA!

Pet care experience

Hi all Doggie Waggies! I have much more information to share upon request, but here is the poop scoop! As a loving pet Mommy to Orion, a Newdle (Newfoundland and Poodle), born September 4, 2013, we are excited to share our home and love with your dog. Orion is well socialized with other dogs of all shapes and sizes, and we are looking for dogs that are socialized as well. Our family also includes Orion's pet Daddy, my boyfriend, Darwin. He is so wonderful with Orion and every dog I have seen him with...his heart is big and is very excited to share our home with your best friend! My goal in caring for your pet is to always provide a safe, loving and educational environment. We will have fun and Orion will love the companionship, as will I. Our home is located close to DIA. We have a playground for dogs with shade, toys and water, but that is not where they will have to stay, that is just for play! Where they will sleep at night is up to you ! We just had a little terrier, Scout, that just buried under our covers:-). I look forward to sharing our home with your best friend! Mizpah, Jenn About this sitter: I am a 42 year old woman, living with my boyfriend for 8 months. I have raised pets throughout the years, including dogs, cats, turtles, fish and gerbils! But Dogs are my passion. Professionally, I have always worked from home in the fields of aerospace, supply chain management and new media. This has allowed me quality time with my pets. Hikes, jogs and parks are our faves! I currently have one dog, Orion. He is named after the Orion spacecraft program I worked with as a subcontract with Lockheed Martin. Though that program is moving slowly, my Orion at a brilliant 9 months is not...He is a very bright, inquisitive and thriving Newdle (Newfoundland/ Poodle). He is being trained as a service animal, so well socialized to other animals. OK, the occasional bird gets a stir! Not sure what he would do if he ever caught one! I think he would lick it silly! I am a very loving person and my current project is getting animals certified for domestic violence survivors, so this job will assist me in my own training to help others, while helping you and your best friend! So. please contact me for a meet up and we can go from there! My loving dog, Atlas Shrugged, died of Cancer, Hermangio Sarcoma. CSU took excellent care of us, but administration of medication was a few times daily and my Cocker Spaniel suffered from Cushing's Disease at age 6. She lived to sixteen years, as I gave her medication daily, and new puppy suffered an ear infection. Admittedly tricky, we both survived, and he now loves when I bring the ear pads out for cleaning! So, caring for your pups specific needs is well in my parameters and empathize with your concerns-) Also, as a note, we are very close to DIA. I have a playground for the dogs. Will limit the number of dogs to 4, including mine and they will have full access to the house inside with me and sleep with me and my boyfriend on blankets on the floor. As I have been training my service animal and past love of my life, Atlas Shrugged (He is in the photos) I am open to discuss training your pet for an additional charge. I look forward to caring for your pet! Why I love dog sitting Always and forever a dog lover! My first dog was named "Diggy", as I could not say Doggie when I was 2:-) Now, at the ripe age of 42, I reflect on what my canine companions did for me, and me for them. I took in strays when I could as a kid in Texas and personally carried them to Vets. I was almost deactivated from my sorority in college at Colorado State University because they required you lived in the house for a year. I was a senior and refused, because I had a Cocker Spaniel, Asti. I received her on my 19th Birthday. I took action and spoke to the board. I prepared a speech giving statistics on the number of pets euthanized every year because of "new" living arrangements their owners chose, and the number of college students that get dogs and give them up because they are not "convenient". The board decided I was an exception and allowed me to stay, living off-site...It didn't hurt that I hosted all pre and post date function parties;-) I know this is about dogs, but my cat, Cerella, lived a full life. I found her at age six and gave her to my step sister to care for when I left for college, Colorado State University, at the home she knew; I grew up in Texas. When I was 28, I was sleeping in my bed in Denver. My dog, Asti, was sleeping in the curl of my legs, as she always did. I had a dream that Cerella was sleeping and purring in that curl. The phone rang at 6am. It was my step mom, telling me Cerella had passed in the night... Asti passed at age 15. She had Alzheimer's, lost hearing and sight and when she started to defecate on herself, I knew it was time. I walked her to a close by park and just lied under the moon with her and shared with her our life together. Her legs collapsed on the way back, and I carried her home. The next day, I gave her peace, with her in my arms. Her ashes are spread at Garden of the Gods, one of our favorite hiking spots. The very big Leonberger (now AKC, but a cross between a Newfoundland, Great Pyrenees and St. Bernard) you see in some of my pictures, is Atlas, Atlas Shrugged. I am a survivor of domestic violence. I am very safe now thanks to his dear soul. Atlas saved me. He pulled my arm to safety, and I knew I had to save us, and I did. We were finally safe and returned to Colorado. I took him to the Vet that was Asti's Vet and his until age 3. I was concerned of a swelling in his leg that two Vets just said was a "fox tail", a weed. My Vet recommended exploratory surgery and the found cancer, Hermangio Sarcoma. I immediately took him to the Vet Center at Colorado State, the second in the best clinic in the nation. I had no money, as when I fled the abuse I lost everything but him. The caring staff at CSU knew I needed time with him, in a place that was now safe. I had met and am still with this very kind and gentle soul, Darwin. We moved in with him and this was the first safe place I felt for us in his seven years. I protected us always, but never felt completely safe. I have that now. Atlas cancer was terminal, but the staff at CSU found me grants totaling $2000 to shrink his tumor, give us some peace and time to find a service companion for me. His treatments ended in September, 2013, and they gave me a few more weeks with him, in addition to the full month and a half I had during treatments. Atlas turned 7 on September 4th, 2013. On October 18th, 2013, Darwin, Atlas and I traveled to Canon City. The next day we were going to pick out a new puppy. There are only two breeders of the service dog and companion I had found. As we arrived to the hotel in Canon City, Atlas passed. His tumor bled out. We rushed him to the closest Vet, Rose, but he was pronounced DOA. Atlas passed knowing I was safe and was finding a dog that would not take his place, but take over a job he deserved to retire from. The next day Orion met me. There were eight pups to choose from, but he chose me. Orion is a Newdle. He is a Newfoundland and Standard Poodle. He is loving and very bright, loves other dogs and pups, kids and adults! My connection with dogs is long standing. I have an infinite amount of love to give. I had a solid professional career in marketing and business development for Aerospace and Supply Chain. I worked with NASA, AirForce and all major Grocery Manufacturers, but none compares to this new path I have chosen... Meet my pets My amazing and adorable Orion. A Newdle (Newfoundland and Poodle) at 17 months. He loves dogs of all sizes and weighs is at just over 70lbs! About my yard We have a fully fenced yard and a dog run. It is more like an area, as it is probably 20ft x 20ft with a great shade tree. We just put down grass seeds, so this area will be available in Spring. The rest of the yard is dirt, but we will lay those seed for grass in spring. Length wide is about 100ft with another side yard at 20ftx20ft and 40+ft from fence to back door, with a cement porch. We have Tug of War rope toys, balls and Kongs for play! Adding more as we go:-) My experience administering medication Yes, if properly advised on the best delivery mechanism.

Information Jenn J. would like to know about your pet

I am more interested in meeting the owner. It is a true tell of how the dog has been cared for. I will take all breeds, but this is with caution. If I feel a dog has been raised with negative, not positive reinforcement, I can not commit to their care. I am open to "re-training" owners and their dogs, but this would be separate.

A typical day

Here's where we'll take our walks We have a great park a block away. I like to hike, so if you are comfortable may take them with us during hiking season. Your dog's sleeping arrangement I always recommend sleep as they do at home. Be it a dog bed or blanket you provide, crate or for some in our bed (no Irish Wolf Hounds please...they can sleep next to the bed!) I would never have them sleep outside! I would not get any sleep that way, worried about them:-) Time I'll spend with your dog This is dependent on schedule. This is currently my full time job. However, I do have to leave on occasion for errands and exercise indoors (Qi Gong, Yoga, Tai Chi) and once a week Toastmasters ((club that works on public speaking)) and church). I am working towards a scholarship for Canine Massage School. During this time, my schedule will be booked, but only four days and will not be accepting dogs. Once I graduate, I will be booking up to 4 appointments per day (30 minute sessions) in my home. I will be here with the dogs, but in a separate room. I will schedule at least 30 minutes between to give the dogs love and care!
