I’ve had dogs my whole life, but adopted my own first dog 16 years ago. We cared for him through all stages of life, until he passed. Several months later, we adopted two puppies who are now two years old and the best of friends. It was hard work raising two at the same time but totally worth it! We have also raised several cats from nursing kittens back to health to providing love and comfort for senior cats. My two daughters and I also spent some time volunteering at an animal shelter.
