Med student sitter!

Pet care experience

I grew up in an off-grid log cabin in the foothills of Mount Pahto (Mt Adams) raising animals and abandoned litters (cats, dogs, goats, horses, even rats!). Since moving to Seattle 14 years ago to work towards becoming a physician I haven't been able to own any pets. I am passionate about animals, and would LOVE to be your furbaby's trail or cuddle buddy. I can take them hiking in the I-90 corridor or trail running, out in the neighborhood for walks, or just hang with them in the environment they feel most comfy. Though I am a human-doctor, I am well attuned to animal behavior, have worked with reactive and anxious dogs with history of trauma, and am always screening their behavior for anything concerning.

Jeni was great with our cat! We were out for an extended period of time, and Jeni's drop-in visits were very appreciated! They're very communicative, attentive, and focused on the needs of the pet. Thank you!

This is our 3rd time hiring Jeni to stay with our dog at our house. She is so good with Sadie. She is responsible, communicative, and really cares about Sadie and what she needs. I HiGHLY recommend Jeni.

Jeni house- and pet-sit for our elderly dog and two cats for 8 nights. Two of our pets get medication, and one is one a ridiculously complicated diet. Jeni sent lots of photos, and we could immediately tell upon coming home that all our pets were in good spirits and had been taken care of with love and attention.

Safety, trust & environment

I prioritize safety, trust, and creating a positive environment for pets. When caring for pets in my home or my client's home, I follow these guidelines: Safety First: 1) I ensure that the environment is pet-proofed, removing any potential hazards. Secure outdoor spaces to prevent escapes or accidents. I do have a fenced back-yard that can be used for play time and live near a big park (Magnuson) which has a large dog park. 2) Keep harmful substances out of reach and provide a secure, comfortable space for the pet. Trust Building: 1) Spend time getting to know the pet's personality, preferences, and any special needs. 2) Follow the owner's instructions and routines to maintain familiarity for the pet. 3) Provide regular updates, photos, and communicate openly with the pet owner. Comfortable Environment: 1) Create a cozy and inviting space with comfortable bedding, toys, and any special items the pet may need. 2) Maintain a consistent feeding schedule and ensure access to fresh water. 3) Respect the pet's routine and offer companionship and playtime. Health and Wellness: 1) Administer any required medications following the owner's instructions. 2) Monitor the pet's health and behavior, reporting any concerns to the owner. 3) Maintain cleanliness and hygiene, including regular grooming if needed. Emergency Preparedness: 1) Have access to emergency contact information for the pet owner and veterinary services. 2) Familiarize myself with the location of the nearest veterinary clinic. 3) Be prepared to handle unforeseen situations responsibly and promptly. Environmental Considerations: 1) Be mindful of the environmental impact by using eco-friendly pet products. 2) Dispose of waste properly and follow any local environmental regulations. 3) Encourage outdoor activities that promote exercise and mental stimulation in a responsible manner. By adhering to the above, I aim to provide a safe, trustworthy, and nurturing environment for pets under my care, whether at my home or the client's home.
