I will care for yours as I do mine!

Pet care experience

Hi, I'm Jeni! For well over a decade, I've taken care of dogs and cats for friends, family, and clients. My sweet 14-year-old dog, whom I had for 11 years, recently passed away, and our cat currently lives with my in-laws. At the moment we are free of pets, so I have decided to add the option of boarding dogs in our home. Unfortunately, I am not accepting cat clients; I appreciate your understanding. As my pets began to age, I learned how to care for them as they grew just a little bit slower. My dog, Roe, went on every hiking adventure until a year ago. One of those adventures was backpacking cross-country for a month before we moved to Raleigh, NC. I have experience administering oral medication to both dogs and cats. I can give baths if your dog gets dirty (free of charge), and I am no stranger to long walks or playful games outside. If your animal sheds a lot, I can bring my de-shedding brush and spend time grooming your loved one without hesitation. I love all species of animals and have dedicated my life to protecting and caring for them. Thus, I can promise that your loved ones will be in the safest hands when they are in my care.

We were so nervous leaving our fur baby Emmy Lou, behind for two weeks with a stranger. However, after first meeting Jeni, we knew Emmy Lou would be in great hands. Jeni is an exceptional dog sitter. She kept us posted throughout the day with texts, pictures, and even cute videos. They went on adventure walks, shared secrets, and cuddled in bed. When we returned home, our house was spotless and Jeni even washed the bedding and made up the bed-(Something I certainly didn’t require/expect). She left the sweetest note and sent us a tug toy from chewy as a gift for Emmy Lou. I can honestly say that my anxiety about leaving Emmy Lou was greatly diminished knowing she was in such great care. So much, in fact, that although Emmy Lou was happy to see us return, she was equally sad to see Jeni go. I truly cannot say enough great things about Jeni. We were so grateful to find her and we’ll definitely be using her services again. We need more dog sitters like Jeni!!

I highly recommend Jeni for any of your pet sitting needs. I was gone for two weeks and I had to put down my cat sister two weeks before that so my cat was pretty much at a loss. Jeni went above and beyond on taking care of and loving my pet and making sure she was healthy and happy and being fed her favorite food and treats every day, as well as giving her the loving company that she craves

Jeni was fantastic! She stayed with our 2 dogs for a 7 nights while we were on vacation and it's clear they loved her and she loved them! From the meet-and-greet, I could immediately tell that my dogs liked her. She kept in constant contact with us; sending pictures and videos, and telling us the cute things our dogs were doing. She also left the house very clean and gave our dogs a bath right before we got home. It's clear that Jeni is an animal lover and showed compassion and love to our babies. I highly recommend her. We definitely plan to book her again for our next trip.

Jeni is absolutely incredible. She stayed in our home with our Goldendoodle for three days while we were away. My husband and I are new to the area and needed to find someone we trusted with our baby! Jeni exceeded expectations. She sent frequent updates, pictures, and videos. She was extremely attentive to our dog and went above and beyond in being mindful of his allergies. He is very energetic and requires a lot of exercise and she made sure he got all the exercise he needed. She was very respectful of our home and left things just as she found it. I could write forever how wonderful she is and I am so thankful that we found her. I couldn’t recommend her more!!

My husband, Kyle, and I live in a townhome, and can only board certain sizes and breeds of dogs. However, my past clients from Rover have always been comfortable with me in their homes and often become repeat clients because of my trustworthiness. You can trust me to respect your personal space and privacy while I provide services in your home; my only job is caring for your pet. It is also in my nature to go above and beyond for my repeat clients, and I will often do light housework if pet sitting for an extended stay at your home. While sitting, you can expect me to fully engage and play with your sweet pet (s) because I want to, not because I have to. And I think that is what you will find that sets me apart from other pet sitters. I genuinely love animals and can promise to love yours just as I do my own.

Information Jeni D. would like to know about your pet

I take animal sitting very seriously, and it is important to me that I am aware of any particulars about your pet before I take on such a great responsibility. Some important factors that I would appreciate knowing about your pet are: 1. Are they taking any medications, if so, how much, how often, and in what form? 2. Is your pet naturally passive or aggressive towards other animals? 3. Is your pet housebroken, or will I be needing to provide basic dog training? 4. Does your pet have any allergies or discomforts? 5. Any specific tricks or favorite games to play? I do not have any specific breed preferences. I love ALL dogs.

A typical day

I think mental and physical stimulation is key to a healthy and happy animal. Depending on your location, I will provide long walks through your neighborhood during a time of day when it isn't too hot outside (I would never want to accidentally burn your baby's paws on a hot sidewalk). Additionally, we'll go to dog parks, or even a hike through one of the Triangle's many nature preserves and hiking trails! Please let me know if your dog is in training, and I will be happy to keep up the routine. If you need me to provide training treats on our walks I can do that too. Anything your pet needs just let me know. There's no age limit to learning new tricks!

I am a fourth-year senior at NC State University. I have an associate degree in Wildlife Management but decided to return to school for my BS in Zoology in 2021. I took a break from Rover when I started at NCSU, but I'm not taking classes this summer and need a paying job since the nonprofit organization, Friends of Bonobos, I will be interning for does not pay. My availability allows me to offer drop-in visits, multiple dog walks, and overnight care at your home. I will be interning less than 20 hours/week, thus, leaving plenty of time to care for your loved ones.
