2x Animal Care Qualifications, Home FT w/ garden!⭐

Pet care experience

My name is Jen and I am here to provide a loving home away from home for your pets, where they will be treated as part of the family! Services I offer for dogs: Boarding, Daycare/half day daycare, House sitting, Drop-ins, Walking Services I offer for cats, reptiles, small furries, birds etc: House sitting, Drop-ins WHY BOOK WITH ME? EXPERIENCE: I have grown up with and around dogs for most of my life, 24 years. I have a Level 3 Extended Diploma in Animal Management and Welfare, and a Level 3 Work Based Animal Care qualification. I have previous experience in dog grooming and training, as well as working in a kennels and cattery which has given me experience with a range of different dog breeds, sizes, special needs dogs, dogs who require frequent medical care eg medicine, and dogs with behaviour issues. As a result of this, I am confident in handling most dogs and will remain calm and controlled in any situation. I also have experience working with a range different cats, I am confident in handling them and reading their body language, and also administrating medicine if needed. The knowledge I have learnt from both my courses and previous experience is useful and helps in caring for animals more efficiently and safely! FULL SUPERVISION: I work from home and am home full-time. Animals in my care are fully supervised, both indoors and outdoors. I try to avoid leaving the house to run errands, however if I do need to pop out then I have a trusted family member supervise your pet while I am gone. I do not crate dogs unless this is part of their normal routine already, this can be discussed further upon booking the stay. LARGE OUTDOOR SPACE: I have a large sized garden which is completely enclosed with high wooden fence panels. Half of the garden is patio and the other half is grass. As dogs are supervised, they are allowed to roam the whole garden. There is plenty of room for your dog to run around, explore and play fetch. I have a range of toys they are allowed to take outside to prevent boredom and help tire them out! In the warmer weather there is plenty of shade for your dog to cool down in, and I am happy to set up paddling pools for dogs to play around in. Fresh drinking water will be provided at all times no matter the weather. All products and plants used in my garden are pet safe. FOR ALL STAYS: Your pet(s) will be of given lots of attention, cuddles and play time depending on their individual needs! I will stick to their normal home routine where possible, including feeding and walking times/amounts. I can continue with any training, and will enforce rules such as not being allowed on the furniture if requested. I will send written updates and photos throughout the day for your peace of mind, and to show you what your pets have been up to and how much fun they are having on their own holiday! FLEXIBLE AND ACCOMMODATING: I am more than happy to accommodate whatever needs your pet may have, as long as this is discussed before booking a stay. As I work from home, I am available most days, weekends and holidays. For services where I will be entering your home, I can also complete basic daily tasks such as collecting mail, emptying bins etc. I will treat your home with respect, and leave it clean and tidy for you to return to. I am happy to walk dogs in any weather conditions, and will provide any equipment needed such as poop bags, water for breaks etc. though they must be provided with a fitting collar or harness upon pickup. I am also happy to provide treats and toys to make the walks more exciting for them and to provide training experiences. If your pup loves a muddy puddle, I will ensure they go home fresh and clean. RESIDENT PETS: Bailey is a 45kg long-haired German shepherd rescue. Despite his size he is extremely calm, gentle and patient with all people and dogs. He loves to socialise and play with other dogs of all shapes and sizes. He is now 11 years old, and is happy to match their energy. Although he does like his space to rest afterwards. PLEASE NOTE: Meet and greets before first time bookings are HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. For dog boarding and doggy daycare, I am more than happy for you to come visit my home and have a look at where your dog will be staying. This gives us the chance to go over any important details regarding the stay, also to introduce our dogs and ensure they get along nicely before booking a stay. For house sitting, drop-ins and dog walking, again meet and greets are highly recommended. This will give us a chance to meet before I enter your home, and will give your pet a chance to familiarise themselves with me. It will allow us to go over any details and rules, and will give you the chance to show me where things such as pet food, cat litter, cleaning supplies etc are kept. Dogs should be well-socialised and dog friendly. They should also understand when ‘too much is too much’, or a time out/leave command as Bailey is getting older, he needs time alone in-between playing to recharge and I wouldn't be comfortable hosting a dog who bothers or stresses him out. Dogs should ideally be house trained, exceptions are made for puppies still learning and senior/incontinent dogs, as long as this is discussed prior to booking a stay. Any products such as puppy pads or wraps should be brought along with you as I don't keep these on hand. I can provide plenty of comfy beds, blankets, toys and chews however if you would like to bring along your dog's favourite then I welcome that. I have a large crate I can provide if dogs are crate trained, however if you have your own you are welcome to bring that along with you if preferred. I DO NOT provide food so please ensure you bring along enough for the entire stay. All dogs are separated when feeding. My dog and guest dogs will be separated overnight, unless they are from the same family. I will not accept a dog for boarding in my own home who has high separation anxiety or displays any signs of aggression. I do not board any cats or small animals in my home. This is for the safety and wellbeing of your own pet as well as mine, please enquire about house sitting or drop-ins if this is the case. Guest dogs are never let off the lead in a public area, eg local park. This is for their own safety as they may be in a new area and can easily be spooked into running off. Also they may not recall to me as well as they would to their owner. They will be let onto an extending lead or long training line when in a public park, and let off lead in the garden only. We sometimes rent a private, fenced field for off lead playtime but this is not guaranteed during your pups stay as my schedule varies. I generally only take in one guest dog at a time, or a pair from the same family. An exception being busy holiday periods when there may be 2-3 guests. This is to ensure each dog receives the highest standard of care and 1-on-1 time, I do not run a boarding kennels/facility. Each dog is made to feel part of the family in a safe, homely environment. I know basic pet first aid.

Any fears? Any training or rules I can enforce during their stay?

A typical day

We can take a slow walk around the block, or go and explore one of the 3 local parks. I am more than happy to run and play with your dog when out on walks (kept on lead) to entertain and stimulate them. All dogs are given free roam of the garden and house, and are supervised at all times. Dogs are allowed to sleep wherever they are most comfortable, downstairs or in my room (unless requested otherwise). They will be provided with beds, blankets, and fresh water. Your pets will be treated as part of the family, whether that is for one day or two weeks. They will be spoiled with love and attention while on their own little holiday!
