I have professional experience working in the animal care industry for over 10 years. I had my own dog walking company in Chicago for 5 years. During this time I also had my "first baby" - Mattie, an amazing Border Collie who was my co-pilot on all adventures. Later I moved to California to pursue a Masters Degree in Art. While in graduate school I worked at a high end pet boutique, large doggy daycare facility, and another dog walking service, all while taking care of my Border Collie. After having my human baby we moved back to the midwest where I grew up to be near my family. I continue to pursue my art career but miss being outside and getting to know all the wonderful dogs in my neighborhood so in order to help supplement my income I've decided to go back to my other love besides art - Animals! I currently own a frisky 4 year old Border Collie named Bolt and if your dog is friendly they will have a friend to join them on their adventures with me! (If not - no worries - he can stand on the sidelines) I also have experience with cat care and owned several kitties in my lifetime. I have administered medications to both dogs & cats and have done shots on kitties. I also have experience with fish, birds, and as a former equestrian I am comfortable with horses (if you happen to have one in your backyard!) Currently I work from home as an artist/illustrator so I can work your outings around my work day. In the early mornings I am getting my kiddo to school and my husband works evenings so I am with her then as well but while she is at school my schedule is fairly flexible. As I said before I have a vast experience walking dogs and being around groups in an unleashed environment. I take numerous safety precautions while on walks including no headphones/music/chatting while walking dogs. I do not walk dogs on collars only for safety reasons but require either harness, martingale, gentle leader or other type of apparatus. I do not give treats to dogs in groups and do not allow toys in groups (with the exception of tennis balls) to prevent fights from happening. I will only do unleashed walks in an enclosed environment and dogs must be fully trained in order to do this. Safety is a priority for me! This helps protect me and helps protect your four legged love!
