I love both dogs and cats equally!
Pet care experience
I have had pets my whole life, big and small. I love all animals equally. I've had a cat my whole life and I enjoy meeting new cats with their very unique personalities. Dogs are so very different and I love their loyalty and their need for attention and care. Both animals are special in their own ways. I have spent over 10 years caring for friends and family members dogs and cats for both long and short periods of time, and I find it very rewarding. I am most interested in doing pet sitting/house sitting. I will travel all over the island to do so. Longer stays preferred of 1-2 weeks or more. That being said I will consider a few days as well for clients that are located in the Comox Valley. In regards to dog walking and drop in visits to care for pets I limit these services to Courtenay, Comox, Cumberland and surrounding areas within a 20 min drive radius. I have recently adopted a Boston Terrier puppy. As of January 2024, she is 6 months old. Franny is a bundle of energy and is extremely friendly with other animals. I will need to bring her on all pet sitting jobs, so a meet and greet early on is a must. I am lucky to have a career in web and graphic design that allows me the freedom to create and work on my own schedule. In addition I can work remotely from clients homes, which fits well into the pet and house sitting job situations. My love for animals is the driving force to get into this line of work and to bring some variety to my day to day. I have recently become a certified Animal Care Aide graduating from VIU April 30th 2022. I look forward to discussing the service you need and to hopefully meeting you and of course your furry family member(s) too.

Jen is reliable, communicative and clearly an animal lover! She is very caring, kind and attentive to my dog Gus Gus' needs. He loves spending time with her. Would highly recommend her for pet care!
It’s clear that Jen is an animal lover! She provides great care for our two dogs whether short or longer stays. I know they are safe and exercised when she stays with them, she treats them like her own animals. My house is always just as I left it or better, and the piece of mind I have leaving my fur babies with her is priceless.

It’s important for me to know ahead of time what to expect from your dog(s) on a walk and in public spaces. Are they reactive to other dogs on the street? On a trail? Do they bark at other dogs and people? Can they be let off leash in dog parks, on trails and/or on dog friendly beaches? Do they like to swim? Chase a ball? Do they have any physical limitations? How is their recall? Which commands are they used to? What about treats? Do you reward them for good behaviour? This kind of information ahead of time allows for less surprises and a more enjoyable time for both me and you pet(s)!
A typical day
During my time with your dog we will be spending a lot of time walking and visiting forests, parks and beaches. Swimming is something I like to do in the summer months… if your dog enjoys water then that will be apart of our time outdoors. If there is a yard available, playing in the yard is an additional option for exercise and play.
