Experienced with Reactive Pups

Pet care experience

Having a reactive dog can be a challenge, and everyone needs a break from time to time! One of my biggest concerns when I've needed to go out of town is who will care for my reactive pup? Who understands his fears, takes those fears seriously, and knows what's needed to keep him and others safe? Who will offer him patience and love when he displays reactive behaviors? My husband and I adopted a reactive pup in the summer of 2020, which has given me much insight into working with reactivity. I have learned positive reinforcement training tips to help our dog overcome his reactivity and how to keep reactive dogs safe. As a reactive dog owner, I value our dog being under the care of a walker or sitter who is experienced with reactivity and strives to provide others’ dogs with the same comfort. It's a rewarding experience to gain other dog's trust and to see their loving qualities shine. And while I love offering compassion and specialized care to reactive pups, I am happy to care for cats and dogs without behavioral challenges! Your pets will receive the same attentiveness and love as well!

Jen was so great with Gus. He has multiple medications he needs to take everyday and she did a wonderful job with that and also coercing him to walk which can sometimes be challenging. Also, our lockbox where she had to get our keys from was frozen and she did everything she could to make sure she got it open to take our dog out. I really appreciated the extra effort she went through to do that!!

Jen did a great job taking care of our dog! She was incredibly responsive and followed our directions. We will definitely ask her to watch him again.

Information Jen D. would like to know about your pet

Ideally, when I'm with your pets, I like to make sure I'm doing everything I can to keep them happy, healthy, and comfortable by emulating their normal routine to the best of my ability. Depending on my reason for visiting your home, it may be important to know about food (what kind, how much, how often), any medications your pets are taking and when they need to be given, if they need exercise and what kind, and any behavioral habits or issues they may have (aggression, fear, submission, anxiety, etc.).

A typical day

I'm happy to play fun games with your pup and take them out for sniff walks to provide mental stimulation; please let me know what activities your pup enjoys!
