Pet care experience
I currently volunteer at a wolfdog/wolf rescue sanctuary called Apex Protection Project. Prior to that I volunteered at Wolf Connection for 5 years and was a Lead of Day. I am aware of all types of canine behaviors and how to handle any type of dog, big and small and have experience working with dogs with severe separation anxiety. I'm a very intuitive individual who can read the energy of your dog and I have a very calm presence that will help your pup learn to trust me. This also comes from many years of experience working with shy wolf-dogs. it takes them a long time to trust people and I have learned how to be extremely patient. Ever since I was little I have always been in love with animals, especially canines. I grew up watching Yellowstone documentaries with my dad and that is when my love for the wolf started. Humans and canines have this unique bond unlike any other animal. Believe it of not but the wolf was one of the first animals that humans coevolved with over 50,000 years ago and are the reason we have our furry companions today. I am extremely passionate about saving the wolf population and hope that people care enough to spread the word to help relist wolves in the states that are currently slaughtering them to extinction (Montana, Wyoming and Idaho). One other thing i'd like to note is that wolves should not be kept as pets so please don't consider getting one. This is why I volunteer at a sanctuary because most of them were previously in homes before or roadside attractions, fur farms, etc. The wolf-dog breeding crisis has gotten out of control and not enough people know what they are getting into. https://www.planb.foundation/page/306/the-wolf-dog-epidemic Enough of my rant about wolf-dogs... The reason I am here is to provide service to you and your pup! I understand the importance of trusting someone to watch after your fur baby and I can promise you your dog will be in good hands! I also have had experience working for Wag! as a dog walker and I really just enjoy being around dogs. A few years ago I had to put down my best friend, Libby. She was a lab mix with rotwieller and pitbull and she really was the best companion and it was really hard on me to let her go. So since my apartment won't allow dogs I have been extremely lucky to watch dogs through Rover and I hope to be able to watch after your best friend while you're gone.. It's helping me get my dog fix :). I love to go on hikes in my free time too so I would love to have some furry company! Hope to meet you and your best furry friend!
Reviews
I was very happy with Jen while she watched our pup and cat. First, my dog instantly loved Jen, which made me feel better about being away. Second, Jen was great at sending us photos and letting us know how things were going. Everything seemed perfect when we returned home. I would highly recommend Jen.
Jen was so great with my 3 month old pup! Was so anxious about leaving him for the first time but he had a great time with her. Got lots of cute pictures during the visit as well!
Jen was amazing. She took Malu for a long hike, played with him at the house and overall kept my boy happy.
Jen was great, helped me out last minute and I felt very comfortable with her with my dog and in my home. She checked in when necessary- I would definitely use her for help in the future.

I can adjust to the living style and regular feed/walk/bathroom schedule that your pup is used to in your home to make them feel comfortable and what they are already used to. Any requests for training I will stick to so that when you come home your pup is the same pup behavior wise as when you left :)
Information Jen C. would like to know about your pet
Any triggers such as what makes your dog bark, if they get along with other dogs or if they are currently trying to learn something new. I am very good with bigger breed dogs and will not have trouble if they pull easily.
A typical day
I enjoy being outside and I think your dog would enjoy being outside with me. I love to go on long hikes and walks along the ocean or up at Runyon canyon, Temescal Canyon, Malibu, Palos Verdes, etc. It is definitely important for dogs to get exercise daily so they live a long healthy life. Getting out of the house also helps keep their brain stimulated and helps if your dog suffers from separation anxiety.

I am currently available full-time to watch your pup. I will have some occasional volunteer days up in Acton and have some interviews to go to but we can work that out when the time comes.
