Pet care experience

Experienced, Personalized Pet Care

With over 20 years of experience caring for animals, dogs have truly been a lifelong passion of mine. I also have professional experience as a certified dog trainer with Petco, giving me a strong background in canine behavior, body language, socialization, basic obedience and enrichment. I have cared for dogs of all sizes, ages, energy levels and personalities, including puppies, seniors, shy or anxious dogs, high-energy dogs and dogs who simply need a little extra patience. After years of providing full-time dog care, I am now intentionally focusing on a smaller number of boarding guests at a time. This allows me to provide more individualized attention and create a comfortable home-away-from-home experience rather than a busy daycare environment. I also offer dog walking and care in your home for pets who are happiest in their own environment. I understand that every dog has different needs, and I tailor my care to the individual dog rather than expecting every dog to fit into the same routine. I pay close attention to changes in behavior, appetite, mobility, bathroom habits and overall comfort, and communication with pet parents is extremely important to me. Your pet isn't just another booking. I want to get to know who they are. 💜

Doggy Day Care • Aug 31, 2026

We dropped Jingo off for home daycare and understood that there would be other dogs there. Before booking, I specifically asked whether all of the dogs were friendly, as I wanted to make sure Jingo would be comfortable in a group setting. This experience was very different from our previous daycare experiences. I’m not someone who expects constant updates or is overly paranoid about my dog, but when trying a new daycare for the first time, I do appreciate getting a few updates throughout the day, especially since there are multiple dogs in a home setting. After dropping Jingo off, we didn’t hear anything, so I eventually reached out myself. I was then told that Jingo was a little anxious. I’ve never heard anyone describe Jingo as anxious before, so naturally, that made me concerned and left me wondering what the environment was like for her. Throughout the entire day, I received only one photo update and very little communication. I had also specifically asked for Jingo to be fed around 3–4 PM. When I picked her up around 5:30 PM, her food was still untouched. I understand that every dog and daycare environment is different, and I don’t expect everything to go perfectly. However, the lack of communication, learning that my dog was anxious, and finding that she had not eaten made this a less-than-pleasant experience for both me and my dog. Unfortunately, our dog will not be returning.

Jen communicated well and was very flexible with our changing itinerary. She obviously has lots of experience with dogs. She shared her detailed observations about our dog’s behavior in a way that made it clear she was very attentive to his needs while he stayed with her.

Schedule

Pet care has been a major part of my daily life for years, so my schedule is built around the animals in my care. For boarding, I intentionally accept a limited number of dogs so I can provide plenty of individual attention, potty breaks, outdoor time, enrichment, play, rest and affection throughout their stay. I do my best to maintain each dog's normal feeding and sleeping routine so their stay feels as familiar and comfortable as possible. I also offer walks and in-home visits throughout the week. These are customized around your pet's routine and can include walks, potty breaks, meals, playtime, enrichment and companionship. Whether your dog is staying with me or I'm coming to them, my goal is quality time and individualized care rather than simply checking a box on a schedule.

Safety, trust & environment

Safety and trust are extremely important to me. I take time to learn each pet's personality, routine, boundaries, medical needs and comfort level before deciding what their care should look like. Dogs boarding in my home have a fenced yard for supervised outdoor time and plenty of space to play, explore or simply relax. Because I now keep my boarding numbers intentionally small, I can closely supervise interactions and give dogs space and downtime when they need it. I never assume that every dog wants to socialize or play the same way. Introductions, activities and interactions are based on the individual dog's temperament and comfort. When caring for pets in their own home, I respect both your home and your pet's established routine. I carefully follow instructions regarding feeding, medications, walks, doors, gates, crates and household safety.

Pets

A typical day

There really isn't one "typical" day because I customize care around the dogs I'm watching! A boarding day usually includes plenty of outdoor and potty breaks, meals according to their normal schedule, playtime, rest, affection and enrichment. Depending on the dog, enrichment might include sniffing activities, lick mats, scavenger hunts, toys, dog TV, leisurely sniff walks or simply hanging out together. Some dogs arrive ready for adventure. Others would prefer a cozy spot, a human nearby and a good nap. Both are perfectly welcome here. My goal isn't to keep dogs constantly busy. It's to give them the right balance of physical activity, mental enrichment, attention and rest so they can settle in and feel at home.
