I live alone and have 3 small dogs and 4 cats. 2 of which like it out side during the summer months. I am 75 years old and have had animals my whole life. My animals are part of my family and are treated as such, My animals are treated like they were children, I hate animal abuse and through the years I have taken in animals that have been dropped off, often they became a part of my family. I grew up on a dairy farm here in East Montpelier, My father would have punished us if ever we were to abuse any animal. His teaching was that animals have feeling just like people so treat them as you would want to be treated.
