Cats, dogs, even sheep!

Pet care experience

I have always loved animals of all kinds, but dogs and cats seem to have a particular place in my heart. There is nothing like being greeted by a friendly dog to make your whole day more awesome! I started out pet sitting as a favor for a friend, but then realized that I had an honest passion for it and decided to do it full time! Becoming a dog sitter truly has been a dream come true for me. I have owned dogs nearly all my life, and I just can’t imagine it without them! My husband and I currently have a Boxer mix who is the love of both of our lives. I've been pet sitting as a job for nearly two years now and have loved every moment of it. I’ve met tons of new great pups along the way, and have gained a lot of experience with all sorts of different pooches!. I love cats as well, they aren't always as aloof as people think, they just have their own way of showing affection. I'm comfortable with a wide range of pets from cats, to hamsters to fish and even hermit crabs. The more the merrier, I always say! I typically like to schedule meet-and-greets for new clients. Not only does it give us a great chance to make sure that we’re all a good fit for one another, it is also a good opportunity for us to chat face to face about your pup and your expectations. I also like to be introduced to the dogs by the owners during a meet and greet because it lets your pup know that I am a welcome presence. For shy dogs, I often suggest the owner allow me to give them an approved treat to make friends. My general approach is to sit down in the living room and let the dog come to me to say hello if they did not instantly greet me at the door. I generally ask the owner about their dog's personality prior to the meet and greet. It is helpful to know going in if a dog is shy or skittish. Once we’ve become friends, I’ll also ask lots of questions about your pup and how I can make their dreams come true! During the sit, I keep the dog's schedule as close to their usual regimen as possible. I know that dogs are creatures of habit, so I’ll make sure they feel right at home with me. I send daily updates and photos to the owners to provide a glimpse into all the fun stuff we’ve done for the day! I'm available to answer any questions both before and during the stay, and am always just a phone call or text away. In any case, your dog's safety is my first priority. I prefer to sit in the owner's home to help lessen the effects of separation anxiety, since I've found that most dogs to be more comfortable and much less stressed in familiar surroundings. And, of course, your pup will receive tons of love and affection from me! Your pupperoni and I would have so much fun together! I know that a happy dog is a healthy dog, so we'd go for walks and play to our heart’s content. By providing lots of positive stimulation through exercise and affection, I’ll make sure that your pooch feels happy and loved so they don’t get separation anxiety. I love to explore all of the different neighborhoods, so we’ll make sure to go on plenty of walks together and explore the new sights and smells.

Jeanette worked with us when we needed a last minute cat sitter, and when our plans changed suddenly. She always takes good care of our pets.

We have been lucky enough to have Jeanette watch our pets for a few years now and I cannot say enough positive things about her. She truly cares for animals and treats them like her own. I feel completely at ease with Jeanette in our home, and she makes taking trips away from our cherished pets just that much easier. Highly recommended!

I only work in my client's homes. I follow their pets' routines as closely as possible to more allow them feel secure and try to mitigate separation anxiety. Pets are never allowed outside alone, even with fenced back yards, and extra care is taken when entering and leaving a home to prevent escapes.

NOTE: Pet profile MUST be filled out prior to scheduling meet and greet. INCLEMENT WEATHER POLICY If the local schools and/or government are closed due to weather, any walks or drop in visits that day will be canceled as I will not be leaving my home for any reason. My cancellation policy is flexible, should you cancel the walk before I do, due to weather. If there is a thunderstorm, I will try to wait and start a walk after the storm has passed, if it passes. We aren't afraid of some rain but a lightning storm can be dangerous for both myself and the dogs. The walk itself may be shortened but I will do my best to see they at least get a break and spend some time with them, as in a drop-in visit. Walks may be shortened due to extreme heat or cold. Again, I will do my best to make sure your dogs get a potty break and will spend some time with them, as in a drop-in visit. Your dog's safety is my first priority. I prefer to sit in the owner's home to help lessen the effects of separation anxiety. I've found most dogs to be more comfortable and much less stressed in familiar surroundings. I like to stick as close to the owner's routine as possible as well as making sure they receive enough attention and care while their owners are away.

This is my only work. I keep a flexible schedule that allows me to quickly help my clients. My husband and I share pet duties at home so it's usually no problem if I need to leave for an emergency walk or drop-in visit, as well as do overnight care in my client's homes.
