About Me: I'm 27 years old and love staying active. I like to hike and explore some of the trails in the area (Milford quarry, Trunkline Trail, Franklin State Forest) and go to the local beaches in the good weather too! I've lived with dogs my entire life and currently reside with three (two chihuahuas and a terrier mix). We live in a big house with a nice fenced in backyard, about a 1/4 acre, and everyone here is as dog friendly as they come. Professional Experience: My first job ever was at a doggy daycare where I stayed for four years learning about dogs of all breeds, sizes and temperaments. It wasn't uncommon to be in a play group of up to 20 dogs at a time and ensure everyone was having fun, getting along and drinking plenty of water. I was required to learn Animal CPR and first-aid and to pay attention to diets, eating habits and to properly administer oral medications too. Note: Playing with 20 dogs at a time renders you immune to the effects of muddy paws, dog slobber, dog breath, sloppy kisses and anything else that man's best friend wants to "share" with you. I left there to start my own dog walking/daycare company and usually spent the days roaming around the woods and trails or heading to the state park to go swimming. Everyday was a little different depending on who was coming along and how many were coming along too. This eventually expanded into doing overnight stays with some of my better clients which was always a blast. Some night I would stay at the owner's home and sometimes I'd take them home with me. I've found if you get a dog good and tired they're pretty okay with sleeping anywhere. Exercise and fun!: (Most) Dogs love to run around and have fun. I know a few good spots around here that would be great for hiking and burning off some of that energy our four legged friends seem to have so much of. I also have a great backyard, maybe just over a 1/4 acre, with a fence around it which is great for playing fetch or just running around with some of the resident dogs. At night: There is plenty of couch space, floor space and bed space at the house. I'm fine with whatever you and your dog are most comfortable with. Feel free to drop off a bed, toys, socks, bones, blankets and whatever else they need to feel at home. There's even plenty of room to set up a crate if that's what they're used too. I'm also comfortable sleeping on couches, floors, beds, tents and anything in-between should your dog prefer to stay at home.
Reviews
I highly recommend Jay for anyone looking for a dog sitter. He has a wonderful way with my dog and you can tell that he truly enjoys what he does. He's patient when dealing with the dog, is punctual and very friendly and professional.
What impresses me about Jay is that his dedication to caring and watching over dogs has been a lifelong mission that he has always taken so much pride in. Jay grew up with dogs as pets in his house, and they were treated as members of the family. His first job was working at a doggie daycare, where his responsibilities as a caretaker extended after hours. He once took in a dog that was abandoned outside of the daycare, brought her home, and took care of her until she could be placed in a proper and loving home. He also rescued a "patron" of the daycare when the owners were no longer about to keep the dog. Jay adopted him and spent 10 loving years with him to the end. Jay's work ethic and dedication to animals in his care is top notch. He truly loves and respects all animals, instinctually understands what they need, and takes pride in their health, safety, and well-being. He is knowledgeable in their behavior and social needs. Dogs gravitate towards him, and it is no mystery as to why!
