I also ask about allergies, behavioral concerns, fears or triggers, whether they get along with other dogs or people, and any commands they already know. It's also important to know emergency contact information, the dog's veterinarian, preferred walking routes, bathroom routine, and any special instructions for entering or leaving the home. Learning these details ahead of time helps ensure the dog stays happy, healthy, comfortable, and safe while in my care.

A typical day as a dog walker and pet caregiver starts by reviewing my schedule and preparing for each dog's individual needs. When I arrive, I greet every dog with patience and enthusiasm, making sure they feel comfortable and excited to see me. I check that they have fresh water, ensure collars and harnesses are secure, and take them on safe, enjoyable walks that provide both exercise and mental stimulation. During each visit, I pay close attention to the dog's behavior, energy level, and overall well-being. I clean up after them, reinforce basic commands and good leash manners, and provide plenty of affection and positive interaction. If requested by the owner, I also feed the dogs, administer basic medications, refresh their water, and spend extra time playing with them so they receive the attention they need while their owners are away. At the end of each visit, I make sure the dogs are safe, comfortable, and settled before leaving. I provide updates to owners about how their pets did, including their walks, meals, bathroom breaks, and any notable observations.
