Pet care experience
🐾 Save $20 on your first Rover booking with my code: JW87502 🐾 Welcome to Barkshire Lodge! I’ve been momma to cats, kittens, puppies, and dogs for more than 30 years - the last few as a foster mom for a local animal rescue organization. In between, I’ve happily cared for our neighbors’ and extended family’s fur babies while they’re away or have relatives in town. I enjoy teaching all dogs new tricks and responsibly spoil our visitors to ensure they fold into our family dynamic easily with little stress.
Reviews
If you’re leaving your pet with someone, can’t think of anyone who will be better than Janin. In our recent sitting, Bow fell ill and Janin went above and beyond in both - taking care of her and ensuring she kept detailed notes about her condition and the last stool sample as well. It was frankly overwhelming with the pet not being well but Janin’s care and communication calmed us a lot. She also offered to take Bow to the emergency vet as I was on my way to her house from the airport to save us time. It was an incredible experience and I would 200% recommend Janin to anyone who loves their pet as their own kid.
Janin provides the best stay-cations for dogs! I’ve used her a few times now and will continue to book my rover needs with her.
I don't have to worry about my pup when she is with Janin. It's clear she is very happy when she's there and Janin sends pics to update the visit. Highly recommend!
Diego had an amazing time at daycare as always. He loves Jan and her family. He definitely gets excited coming there. I really appreciate Jen for her flexibility and kindness. Will continue to do daycare and board him there. Highly recommend.

📍 Upon check-in, all guests receive AirTags/GPS locators to wear for the duration of their visit. We live on five fenced acres with a smaller fenced in area as a backyard. During good weather, this gives us the opportunity to take walks and exercise safely multiple times a day. For rainy season exercise, we’ve converted our heated garage to an inside doggy playland. We also have a separate area inside our home where we can comfortably quarantine animals recovering from surgery or who might just be a little too shy in the beginning to jump in the mix. Our AC and wood floors keep pups cool and comfortable through summer and our cozy fireplace, blankets and pet beds keep them warm in winter. For your safety and ours: We require Bordetella, Distemper, Rabies, and a clean fecal test performed within the last year to keep all our guests safe. Note also, our liability insurance no longer allows us to take guard/working dogs, namely: German Shepherds, Pit Bulls, Dobermans, Boxers, Akitas, Chows, Huskies and other sled dogs.

Information Janin W. would like to know about your pet
Please provide daily schedule, likes and dislikes, and any triggers your fur baby may have. Let me know also if they have any allergies. I’m adept at working with special need dogs (and cats!) as well as ones that are just a little quirky. We’ll crate at night if that’s what you normally do; otherwise pups can settle where they want at bedtime. And we follow your lead when it comes to routines, so just let us know what’s allowed and what’s not. Don’t hesitate to let us know what your fur baby needs! Please note the daily rate for daycare reflects up to 10 hours of service; after that boarding rates go into effect.
A typical day
Our days will be filled with exploring the sights, sounds and smells of our five acres. We’ll be outside anywhere from 2-4 hours a day depending on the weather. We have lots of toys, and playing fetch and chase are go-to activities for all our guests. In the evening, expect to snuggle up and hang with the family while we watch tv, read or play games.
