Pet care experience
I grew up on a farm in rural Alberta, and I've had animals my whole life. I've never not had a dog or a cat in the house, and usually we always had more than one. I spent most of my junior high school years walking dogs at the SPCA in my spare time, and then when I was able to drive I began house sitting and farm sitting for the locals in my town until I graduated high school and went to college. In 2019 I moved to Calgary, and after 2 months I realized how lonely I was without an animal here. I contacted SPCA from my home town and chose a cat, who became my best friend. I now have a pitbull terrier, Odin, and another cat, Callie, as well as of course my best boy Muss. We also cared for my husbands sister's cats Dio (an Insulin dependent diabetic cat), and Nook. I have extensive experience caring for dogs and cats, and I have also fostered catswith AARCS in Calgary, and had a foster "fail" with them as well. I work long days in the emergency department, but still have free time and do pet sitting on my off days if I dont have plans. If your drop in/sitting request doesn't fit my schedule, my husband and I make a good team and he's always willing to help if clients approve having him come by, or caring for their animals if your plans change last minute or you're dead set on selecting me as your sitter but I am per se working half the day! Janiece did such an amazing job house sitting my two dogs. I went away for the long weekend and she made me feel so comfortable leaving my place and dogs to her. She sent daily updates, left my place cleaner than I had, and even went back to let my dogs out after my plane had been delayed. You can tell how much she loves animals. I would highly recommend her to any and would definitely use her again. Thank you so much janiece :)
Janiece was great and the dogs loved her. They were well taken care of and felt at ease leaving them with her when we were out of town. Would definitely recommend going through her!

Cats are always inside cats unless harnessed and leashed with supervision, my experience with indoor/outdoor cats has never been that great so I just don't personally allow mine to be that way. We tend to keep most windows open only enough so that they can't climb the screens- as my kitties like to do that, and get hurt or escape, and keep most items that are unsafe that they might get into or knock over packed away. All of our doors have "door buddies" and bumpers so no one gets stuck or crushed. The dogs have free rein in our house, but because of that we leave nothing out. We have all of the doors latched with "door buddy" so that the cats can get in but dogs can't, and especially so they can't eat the litter. All hazardous items and garbages are packed away. We have a fenced yard with privacy fencing that is 6ft tall for safety as well. Their food is in latch sealed bins, even though they aren't typically interested in getting in there anyways, it is just a preventative measure.

Don't leave anything to assumption. Let me know commands, safe words, triggers, and things we are working on. If your dog does or doesn't like to get wet, or has some kind of crazy obsession or trigger. These things can really effect choices on where we walk and what I might have planned! Also, I have a high energy dog myself (with not the best manners, but he isn't aggressive what so ever), if you'd like play date let me know! my guy is ALWAYS down, but certainly not invited to these business outings unless by client request. If you want a day out for a hike in the mountains I'd be happy to arrange fuel costs with you, and we can discuss this if it's something you're interested in. Your pup will come home absolutely tuckered out- typically me and my guy do grassi lakes, troll falls, or the lake louise loop. However the price of gas right now is outrageous- but these are all dog friendly hikes that aren't too strenuous and they're shaded. We stop lots for water and treats, and photos of course!
A typical day
If recall is good, dog parks are a must! If not, there are lots of paths, places like discovery park even, that have lots of good smells and sight seeing! Before our walk I'll have a good look at the neighbourhood and try and map out the best route for your pup(s). Let me know if there is a preferred routine or area you like to go or that is comfortable to your crew. I personally love spending the day with the dogs and doing all of their favourite things- watching them enjoy life brings me so much joy.

Availability
I am an early riser so I get up and feed everyone, do medications (used to be insulin for our household), and then do all of the toileting/exercise. We hand out for a bit and relax and then figure out what kind of fun we will get into. Some days hold more adventure than others. Evenings are the same as mornings, and we snuggle up into bed early with the crew!
