Just realized that the review I typed up in May never posted, so I am re-posting it now. We did NOT have a good experience with Jane. We booked Jane last-minute after our usual sitter had a conflict. We asked if Jane and our pup could meet prior to our booking, and she asked us to meet her at her apartment building. However, when we arrived, she seemed surprised that we asked to come inside so that our pup could see her apartment - I'm not sure why she agreed to meet if we were just going to stand outside of her home? Then when we were meeting, Jane completely put us on the spot and told us that she wanted to take another client at the same time. We were uneasy having our large dog stay in a small studio apartment with a dog he/we knew nothing about, but we felt very awkward being put on the spot, and didn't think we could say no. On the day of the booking, Jane was supposed to pick up our dog from our home when she was off of work around 5 or 6. We did not hear from Jane for HOURS after the time our dog was supposed to be picked up. Instead of enjoying the wedding we were attending, we were completely panicked. We finally heard from Jane around 9:30pm, who told us she was sorry for not touching base sooner, but her phone had died? It seemed extremely careless to allow the phone to die, and then to let several hours to pass after the dog was supposed to be picked up, before contacting us. We received no further updates from Jane until I finally reached out to her and asked for one. The final straw was when we got a very dramatic message from Jane saying that she needed to get in touch with us immediately, as our dog was "being highly aggressive with another dog at the dog park." We were very shaken to see her message, as our friendly golden retriever has NEVER had a single aggression incident, and is very well-socialized. We immediately called Jane to see what had happened; she informed us that our dog merely humped another dog at the park, and it made her "very uncomfortable" to have to pull him off. Humping is not the same thing as aggression! Of course it's awkward, but not aggressive, and not worthy of the 911 text we received from Jane. This whole experience left us feeling that Jane was not professional and not very comfortable with larger or energetic dogs.

Jane Elizabeth flat out LOVES dogs. She has lived with at least one dog, usually two, since she was a child. She was my go-to dog sitter before she moved to D.C. She is conscientious, compassionate and reliable. Dog breeds she has lived with or sat for (that I am aware of) are labs, GSP, and springer spaniel.
