Pet care experience
{New to Rover? Take $20 off your first booking using Promo Code: JANDYJ42751} I love all animals great and small. When it comes to canines, I especially have an affinity for wolf dogs and other northern / mountain breeds (this is to say, I’m very good with dogs who have minds of their own, and may be described as stubborn or with having anxiety by their owners). Socializing animals and teaching them it’s ok to trust again is most rewarding part of the animal rescue work I do, so if your dog is struggling with a behavioral or social issue, know that I’m so happy to help. 😊 I also provide specialized care for cats with medical or behavioral needs. I have extensive experience with neonatal kittens and feral cats alike. I love a challenge - and I’m passionate about cats - so if your cat needs daily SubQ fluids, medication, or has been described as difficult, he/she is totally my jam 🐾 I’ve studied animal behavior, animal nutrition, and I’ve volunteered at Front Street Animal Shelter for the past 8 years as a medical foster, neonatal action team (kitten connection), and a kitten foster. I have also rehabilitated, socialized and fostered dogs and cats, along with other animals/wildlife. I spent two summers volunteering at a wildlife rescue learning triage, and am still affiliated and rescue with Lake Tahoe wolf rescue (my last two canines were wolf dogs, with difficult backgrounds/special needs). This is when I fell in love with big, beautiful and complicated dogs (they are actually kind of, exactly like cats, .. but I digress …) I’ve also owned a large variety of animals, including rabbits, rats, and birds. Lastly, I have extensive experience with animals with medical needs - my own at different times having cancer, pancreatitis, HCM, and kidney disease, I’m proficient at giving meds, fluids and soothing those special little ones with separation anxiety. I know how difficult it is to leave your pet when you go away, especially if that pet has any special needs. My goal is keep your fur baby so happy, you don’t have to worry one bit when you’re out of town. I will love and care for your pet as if it were my own (and pour my life blood into curating that relationship if I have to!), and send you as many photos/videos/updates as you can handle! Extras ~ *Offering free meet and greets *Discounted rates for animal care workers *Specialized services include: *Animal Behavior Consults; Socializing, Separation Anxiety, and Enrichment *Harness Training (cats) *Basic command Training for dogs *Feline & Canine Nutrition Consults *Transport *Nail trimmings *Med. Management *Additional fees may apply for specialized services; determined and agreed upon after evaluation of your pet to meet their particular needs. *Interested in seeing how I treat my own animals? I like to do a meet and greet at your home before we book, so that you can walk me through your pet’s routine, his or her hiding spots, favorite toys, any special requests, and introduce me as a friend. During my visit, my goal is to keep your pet happy, content, well-fed and well-stimulated! If approved, I bring treats with me on the first visit to make sure everything starts off on the right foot. Depending on the owner preference, I will put on music or cat/dog tv on the television when I leave. I also give my clients ideas of things they can do to best keep their pet content while they are away. I can’t wait to meet you!

Information Jandy J. would like to know about your pet
Questions for owners: Any hiding spots I should know about? Is there anything they don't like that we might encounter on a walk (other dogs/big trucks etc)? Are there any health concerns or allergies I should know about? Lastly, please think about leaving veterinary / emergency contact information, and/or pre-authorization for treatment in case of emergency.
A typical day
Every animal is an individual, and some may take longer than others to warm up. My goal is to first bring calm and safe energy, and allow your pet to approach and investigate me until they are comfortable. From here, I take their cues about what kind of engagement they are ready for, and I meet them in that space. With each visit, I build upon the interactions from before, until before long, your pet sees me as a safe and trusted friend! When your pet is ready to engage, I'm always ready to run around and play w/ the hyper, or get cozy and snuggle for those who want lots of pets. I am big on enrichment activities and mental stimulation for your pet! Whether it is a 30 min walk or visit, my entire focus will be on their well being, their particular needs, and I will *always* provide you with photographs/videos of the fun we have together.

I make my own schedule, so I am able to accommodate most requests both on week days and weekends if submitted in enough time to plan. My service area is within 5 miles; sometimes I get booking requests outside of my service area that can be accommodated with an additional fee.
