I Love All God's Creatures

Pet care experience

As the daughter of a veterinarian and having grown up on a ranch/farm, some say love for animals is in my DNA. My admiration for animals is deeply ingrained in my identity, and I have a lifetime of experience with dogs, cats, horses, cattle, goats, chickens––you know, the whole ark basically. In addition to dogs, I’ve spent a great deal of time riding, training, and caring for horses––whose strength, beauty, grace, and ability to understand and communicate with us continue to fascinate and inspire me. I am presently without any pets, but this is why I’m looking forward to spending time with your pup, and giving him or her my full, undivided attention. I miss having a dog in my life! Even on my family farm, I was always closest to our loving and faithful dog. In the past 30+ years, I've been fortunate to have various breeds, small and large, as part of my own family. I have a lot of experience pet/house-sitting, both short-term and long-term (entire summers), and have volunteered at a local private shelter doing various duties and assisted at a spay/ntr clinic for several years. I’m somewhat self-educated in trying to understand common behavioral issues by studying the teachings of experts like Cesar Millan, and take seriously the differing natural instincts between humans and dogs. I strive to establish a relationship that leaves your pup feeling content and secure with me while providing fun and entertainment for both of us! Having been surrounded by animals for most of my life has instilled in me a deep respect and admiration for all living creatures, and I can honestly say that I love dogs more than humans. I’m sensitive to my surroundings and everyone that inhabit our mutual spaces, and I aim to establish and build trust with your furry friend to nurture a happy and rewarding relationship.

Jana is an amazing human and a terrific dog sitter! My boyfriend and I were so blessed to have had Jana as our neighbor. When we first adopted our puppy, Athena an American Bulldog, we did not know what we were getting ourselves into! Puppies are hard work! But thankfully Jana was there to help. She was there to keep our pup company during long work days and to take Athena out for potty breaks. Today Jana is no longer our neighbor, however, she is still our number one pet sitter. She loves Athena as if she were her own and there is no place we would rather leave our pup when we are away.

If there ever was a lover a dogs, Jana is it. She is magnetized to every dog she sees and they are magnetized to her. You can just tell how much her soul lights up being around them. She watches dog shows, reads dog books, talks about them all the time, she's the real deal. I'm not sure that you could find a better person to give your pet the 100% love that it needs. Very trustworthy and caring as well. She'll definitely do what it takes to care for your dog.

I have had the pleasure of knowing Jana for about 15 years. During that time Jana has always had a pet or two or three. Jana always has been a responsible pet owner and has taken great care of her family companions. I have an animal rescue; Southern Oklahoma Animal Resources (S.O.A.R.). We are a 501(c)3 org. located in Madill OK and have been in operation since 2007. Jana volunteered with us from about 2010 thru 2014. During those years she helped with numerous rescues. Those involved taking in dogs from puppy mills, hoarding situations, law enforcement cases and caring for the abundant homeless pets we encounter on more days than we would like. During the years Jana volunteered we had about 50-55 dogs, five or six cats, seven old race horses, a few old cows, and one hog that ate sherbet. She saw a variety of animals, injuries, medicine and overall nursing care, in addition, Jana helped with the day to day operations of caring, feeding, cleaning and the socializing of our resident homeless pets. We also sponsor a monthly low cost spay/ntr clinic for low income families. Typically we will see about ninety to one hundred cases per weekend. Jana and other volunteers will check in, prep and recover the patients. If they need nail trimming, ears cleaned and some flea and tick treatment those volunteers will see that it is done. It is a much needed service and it is volunteers like Jana that make it work. In our part of the country we are exposed to a great deal of Canine Parvo Virus. We have taken in puppies that start coming down with the virus one after the other. It becomes a marathon of no sleep, cleaning, hanging IV bags and keeping fluids and meds on board till these little guys turn the corner and start to get well. Jana has been in the battle staying up for days on end caring for puppies that otherwise would not have a chance at life. So I hope you see your family companion will be in good hands. They will be in the care of an advocate that truly loves dogs, cats and most creatures. I will warn you; if she feels someone is neglecting or mistreating their pet----- someone is certainly going to hear about it. Scott Sutherland CO-Director SOAR

Jana Rodgers has always been known to her friends as one who truly knows how to nurture and cultivate healthy relationships with dogs as loved pets. I engaged her to bring her two Bishons to my Kindergarten classroom for pet care demonstrations three years in a row. She and her pups were wonderful. She is also great with pooches with anxiety issues. I admire her loving, understanding approach. Her father was a veterinarian and she is cautious and careful with doggie health issues.

When I'm caring for a dog in the client's home, I treat it like any other babysitting job, but I have tons of more fun! We'll do our "business" when we need to, make sure we celebrate our "good dinners" (or whatever you call mealtime), trying to keep everything as comfortable and normal as possible. And then they tell me what to do! It's so much fun!! In an unsafe situation, we abort, regardless. I have a keen eye for possible problems that might occur.

Information Jana R. would like to know about your pet

First and foremost, I aim to be responsible and totally trustworthy to you and your beloved pup. I will always be prompt in responding to your requests and appointments. I will familiarize myself with your individual needs since each human-dog relationship is unique. I will document activities during our sessions so you can keep in touch with your loved one and not wonder how our day is going. Before you leave your pup in my care, I will confirm that I have all pertinent information (names, numbers, vet information, etc.) readily available. My goal is to always have your pup feel secure and safe in my care, but also to ease your mind since leaving your dog with a stranger can feel like a leap of faith in so many ways.

A typical day

After our Meet and Greet session, I will plan a full-time schedule for us. We will spend as much time getting outdoor exercise (walking, jogging, etc.) as possible. In a secure and safe place, we can play fetch or whatever else your pup loves to do! Of course, there will also be relaxation time, which can include sitting at the park, beach, or in the backyard. Regardless of where we are or what we're doing––we will always be together, safe and happy! I love to walk around my neighborhood where I'm surrounded by picturesque streets, parks, the beach, and bays that surround my home. I do this AT LEAST once a day, and will make sure your pup gets plenty of active time. Just as I love animals, nothing gives me greater pleasure than spending time outdoors with a four-legged friend.
