I’m a retired medical worker. I worked a short while as a Veterinary assistant during college. My husband is bird hunter with years of experience training and enjoying dogs. We are lifelong pet owners. House/pet sitting is considered on SJI, and Bellingham where I visit often.

I wanted to express my utmost appreciation for the exceptional care Jana provided to our hyperactive dog, Sunny, during our recent trip. Her dedication to ensuring Sunny received sufficient exercise and affection was truly remarkable. The location of her residence for dog sitting was perfect, offering a safe environment where dogs can run to their heart's' content. Furthermore, our trip got delayed by 5 days and she was so flexible and accommodating to our delayed return. Upon picking up Sunny, it was evident that she had formed a deep bond with Jana and her family, she was reluctant to leave her company. Back at home, Sunny seems to be missing the time spent under Jana's care, as she frequently begs to return to Wild Rose Ranch on San Juan Island. We cannot stress enough how grateful we were for Jana's excellent dog sitting skills, which enabled our family to enjoy our trip without concerns. Rest assured, we will wholeheartedly count on Jana for any future dog sitting needs that may arise.
I’ve had the pleasure of knowing Jana for quite a few years. She has taken care of my dog and cat when I’ve been on trips and we have walked our pets together for years. My animals love her when she comes over, even my cat Marco who hardly approaches anyone. She is a genuine, kind, and friendly person. Your fur baby would be very well cared for by Jana.

Dogs have free range inside if they are mellow and well-behaved. Our dog sticks close to us outside, always keeping us in sight. Visiting dogs usually stick close to her, but if not leash walks 4-5 times a day provided. Cats have their secure greenhouse.

Absolutely no aggressive or rambunctious dogs please. Let us know your dog’s preferences and unique personality so we can make them feel at home. We require a recent bath and flee treatment. No pooping or peeing indoors, please! Our dog loves company and to play yet also is fine to ignore your dog. She isn't peer dependent. Look forward to confirming that our dog and your dog get along at a meet and greet or day care visit if your planning on leaving town for more then one night. This also helps your dog feel more at home with day care before long stay. We don't own a cat currently but have had a few that lived 9 very long happy lives.
A typical day
Typical day for dogs, to hang out inside or outside with an adult. Ball, swim, hike or lounge. Our dog sleeps in our room and doesn’t mind sharing her humans too much. Cats vacation in an approximately 10x20' greenhouse. No male spraying cats, please. Our litter box or yours. You provide preferred litter. This actually creates a feeling of home for them.

Availability
We are mostly retired and home. My husband spends his days maintaining our 17 acres and trail system around the pond. We are 1/4 mile off the main road. Such a plus! Our home is truly a dog or cat paradise. For dogs, swimming, running around with our Brittney Wirehaired Pointer or hanging out in the house. Penny is excellent with non aggressive dogs. She is a lover, not a fighter. If your dog is small or less rambunctious Penny will just ignore them and do her own thing. Safety is our TOP priority with your best friend. The dogs are either in the house with us or outside supervised. We are installing a dog kennel for visitors who may be prone to running off if needed. We have an attached greenhouse for the cats. They can be free in there and watch birds all day. Plenty of love available for the ones who like it. Penny has never attacked a cat but I prefer not experimenting. I keep cats completely separate, safe, warm and dry. Litter box provided. Please bring your own litter and pet food, toys.
