A pet-lover you can trust
Pet care experience
I enjoy loving and caring for pets. I currently have two large breed dogs of my own (Rhodesian Ridgebacks) and have owned dogs and cats all my life. I also own several types of tropical and domestic fish in my home aquariums and in my backyard pond. I have sat for both large and small dogs alike for friends and family. I’ve owned my two dogs since they were 8 weeks old (now ages 7 and 10 years old) and fully understand both the needs of small puppies and those of an aging, senior dog. I’ve trained my two Ridgebacks and have assisted family in training their pets as well. I have a thorough understanding of the behavior indicators of dogs. I can most often tell when they are stressed, in pain, uncomfortable, fearful, content, relaxed, need attention, have to potty, and so forth based on their facial expressions, body gestures, and other behaviors. For pets who cannot speak for themselves, I believe understanding and reading these signals are essential to proper pet care. The safety of pets is of utmost importance to me. Like small children, I feel it is essential to protect pets from a harmful environment. In doing so, I’m always in tune with where a pet is and what a pet is doing in order to keep them out of harm’s way. I give back to the community by volunteering with the Southern Region, Rhodesian Ridgeback Rescue organization Paws Between Homes by fostering dogs and have volunteered with the Royal Animal Rescue by driving hundreds of miles to transport animals to and from rescue organizations, foster care homes, and medical facilities. I’ve provided foster care for dogs pending their adoption and have visited homes on behalf of the rescue organization to evaluate the demeanor of pets that will be moved to foster care. I am eager to love and care for your fur-babies as much as I do my own and provide them with a secure and neutering environment while you are away.

I have a large fenced back yard. My two large breed dogs get along well with other dogs. My dogs generally stay outdoors as long as weather permits. They seem to enjoy the freedom to roam and an occasional dip in the pool. Otherwise, they are indoors and always in my presence or crated as required for their own safety (since they tend to eat anything that can fit into their mouths). Smaller dogs that I sit for will have the pleasure of spacious indoors living and will be watched and cared for around the clock. I generally bring the larger dogs indoors whenever the smaller dogs go out so that the smaller dogs are less bothered by the big ones and the shyer ones are not so intimidated by the larger ones. I generally don’t allow pets in my kitchen except to pass through, mainly for their own safety. But whenever I’m cooking or not in the kitchen, the kitchen is cordoned off with a pet gate or a closed door. My home is large and has plenty of space for crates, toys, and pet beds. NOTE: My pit bull policy requires that the pit is a pup under 1 year old. Additionally, it requires that I don’t have any other pets to care for during the period requested. This practice ensures focused, undivided attention to your pit bull and promoting the safety of all other pets involved.

Information Jan B. would like to know about your pet
No two pets are alike. With that said, if your pet requires special attention or has needs that might be out of the ordinary, including separation anxiety, resource guarding, or other habits, please make that known to me so that I can accommodate them to the fullest extent possible and ensure their comfort during theirs stay. I’d like to know about any unique behaviors your pet may have and their potty habits and feeding schedule. For the safety and comfort of all pets concerned, pets must be up to date on vaccinations. *In order to maintain a healthy, pleasant, and inviting atmosphere, kindly ensure your pet is free if fleas, ticks, and other pests and are clean and odor-free upon arrival. If you’re finding yourself short on grooming time, bathing services are also offered and available for your convenience.
A typical day
I enjoy spending one-on-one time with pets daily. I engage them in fun activities that not only keep them physically active, but also mentally stimulated. Keeping pets engaged helps to lessen boredom and separation anxiety. My neighborhood is a great place for walks as it is away from the main thoroughfare and has little traffic.
