Exp. @ Doggy Daycare & Cat Snuggler

Pet care experience

Hello! Thank you so much for visiting my profile! I’ve had pets since I was a child (both cats & dogs). As an adult I have had one dachshund (a little long-haired guy named peanut) and now I have a 6 year old cat (an orange tabby cutie, named Crikey, after the late Steve Irwin's famous catch-phrase). Like Steve, I am an avid animal lover (but without all of the risk). I have a bit of experience working for a doggy daycare (boarding pets overnight and managing free play, group play and socializing by size of dog, including bathing, specialty medications, and feeding) where my main focus was small and medium-sized dogs. I volunteered locally with an animal sanctuary to help earn scholarships in high school, and I have also cared for animals in their own homes throughout different points while I was in college as a way to earn a little extra money or help friends when they needed to go out of town but couldn't bring their furry friends. I use Rover myself, whenever I go out of town, and I love that this platform gives me a ton of caring and well-vetted people to choose from! I can't wait to meet and take care of your sweet fur baby while you are away.

Jamie is the BEST! She's been taking care of SHADOW since he was 3 months old. She maximizes her drop in visits with a good walk, lots of play, treats, and photos! She has my highest recommendation!

Jamie has been our primary drop in Pet Sitter now since we got our Keeshond puppy SHADOW back in Oct 2023. She has helped "raise him" and has always taken great care to maximize her time with him! From feeding, to walks, to cleaning up puppy accidents, to playtime,.... She has done an incredible job! And she always checks in and out via the app and posts plenty of great photos! Jamie has my highest possible recommendation and gratitude!

Jamie is the best! She has been taking care of my 11 month old Keeshond puppy now since he was only 3 months old, so she's practically raised him! She spends the whole 30 minutes with him, cleaning up after him whenever he had an accident, walks him, plays with him, and buttons him him all back up when she is finished. All the while she documents the visit with lots of photographs! I highly recommend her for taking care of your loved ones!

I will follow any established protocol you have set for your pet, whether crating or free-feeding, changing puppy pads and crate spot cleaning as needed, going for walks or playing, scooping litter as needed (for cats), giving treats or meals, refilling water, etc. If your pet is more advanced and knows or needs to practice certain tricks or challenges, just let me know! My cat enjoys obstacle courses and small changes to his environment daily and the stimulation gives him something new to explore, so I'll hide his toys in new places, incorporate something to climb over and something to hide under, and he is excited to investigate. Before the first time I walk or sit for your pet, I'd love to set up a meet and greet so we can chat about anything I need to know about your furry friend. I'll try to be proactive about questions, but if you think of anything at all before, during, or after the meet & greet, feel free to text me on the rover number at any time.

Information Jamie S. would like to know about your pet

Please let me know if your dog has special needs, quirks, or behavior-triggered actions. (I.e. Spark pees when you arrive if you get him too excited. Mugsy gets aggressive around feeding so give him his own space from other dogs. If you say “Walk” Benji spins in circles and you can’t get his leash on him. Ellie eats too fast and vomits immediately if all her food is left in the bowl, so you need to parcel out her serving throughout your stay to help her regulate her feeding. If your pet is a "door darter" and runs toward the door anytime it opens, PLEASE let me know in advance, so I don't accidentally let them out as soon as I walk in. :) And of course, I'd love to know what their favorite toys and activities are, treats you like to give, any restrictions you have (no pets on the furniture, no treats for spot because he's on a special diet) and anything else you can think of! As you can imagine, I've seen all kinds of things, so no tip you can provide is trivial to me--every pet is so unique! I can't wait to meet yours!

A typical day

We’ll start by getting acquainted, smells, pets and belly rubs, head pats or ear scratches (if your pet likes that). We’ll walk around your neighborhood, play in the back yard, and play games to keep your best friend active and happy. I prefer not to take your pup to a dog park, but instead I will give them one on one focused attention and we'll practice any tricks, or play with their favorite toys, walk or run, and enjoy being outside together. For cats, I like to start with pets and a treat. I’ll review dry food and water, and will refill as needed, and I will put out food. We’ll have play time, or more pets if your pet is older or in need of more social attention. Finally, I scoop litter, send all your lovely pet pictures and say farewell, until next time! If I have extra time, or your cat is really more social and sweet, I'm happy to sit with them a little longer. When I'm away, the comfort of knowing my sweet guy has great company to play with and give snuggles makes all the difference.

I work full-time hours but have a somewhat flexible job so I will be able to find time throughout the day to come and visit your pet, especially if you are local to Destin. Currently, I am unable to stay overnight at your home or board pets with mine, but I am available before and after work, as well as during a typical lunch hour to stop by, give your pet 5-star treatment, and return to work. Currently, I am available most days, but because my schedule may need to change a bit due to meetings, I will keep my calendar up to date, so you'll be able to easily tell when I am free for bookings.
