Pet care experience
I have been the go-to person in my family when people need last minute pet care. I have taken care of elderly dogs, and young puppies alike. Whether taking care in their own homes, or simply checking on them, or taking them for walks and feeding them. I believe activity keeps them young and us sane! But, time is often NOT in our favor these days and I'm happy to help when it comes to our dogs. I have also raised my own Australian Sheppard and Alaskan Malamute with my wife for the last 7 years. I grew up with Golden Retrievers and Yellow Labs. Between them and the dogs I have now, I am well aquatinted and comfortable with big dogs. I take my own dogs to the dog park and/or on long walks daily. I understand that even though a dog might be perfectly fine off leash, others peoples dogs (and the people) might not be comfortable with free roaming dogs. So it is safer for everyone to simply be on leash.

My dogs are inside/outside dogs. They live and sleep inside with us and are free to play roam out in our back yard as well. My Malamute is crate trained and LOVES her crate. Whenever we are going to be gone for more than just a few minutes, she goes in her crate but never for more than a few hours. I totally understand the purpose and importance of crate training. Our Aussie LOVES to do zooms (play fetch) the ball is LIFE for him. So we do zooms constantly. We allow our Aussie off leash when in a big open area and throw the ball for him pretty much constantly (when it is safe to do so). Our Malamute is ok off leash but we are more cautious with her because "the call of the wild" is real with that one! When I have house sat for friend's and family, I always appreciate a set of rules and feeing instructions for feeding. When in doubt I call/text for clarification. I would rather ask a "dumb" question than make a mistake with other peoples dogs especially. If I am unable to acquire needed information, I simply consider what makes sense and is safe for everyone. I am always highly aware of my dogs surroundings in the house as well. Not only so the don't chew on something, but also to protect them against eating something that could be dangerous or give them an upset stomach-that is simply no fun for anyone involved. When it comes to a dog trusting me, I start by getting on their level, being calm and confident, and offering my hand for them to smell and allow them to approach me. I try to earn their trust with treats when appropriate, but that is not always required.
Information James F. would like to know about your pet
I would like to know how far you usually walk you dog(s), where you walk them and how they respond to other dogs. One of my dogs gets testy while on leash and the other does not, so I totally understand either way. I want to know what words your dog responds to and if they are food/treat motivated, or not. I would like to know if they have any health conditions to keep an eye out for, or any physical or emotional limitations due to age, medication or otherwise. It would be good to know their age and weight as well. It would also be good to know weather or not you use an E-collar or prong collar, and why. Such as: they are just so big and strong that I need to (same with my big girl so I understand).
A typical day
I love to get animals moving and mentally stimulated. Weather that means playing with a new toy or going on a walk to a park near by. I'm an active and high energy person. I am not afraid to run around in the back yard with your dog to get them excited and having fun, if a walk is not enough. All dogs have their own personality and needs, just like us. So if a dog likes to rough house or run around on the lawn (assuming they are allowed and able to) then so be it, I'm in!

Availability
Pet care is part of my life. I get up early to go to the gym but often end up taking care of my dogs first depending on mine and my wife's work schedule. I just finished a fire academy and am working hard to get hired by a full-time fire department. So in the mean time I have a ton of time and no excuse NOT to take the upmost care of my pups.
