Cats, and dogs, and Jacq, oh my!

Pet care experience

I have been around pets of all kinds from birth. We've always been a multi-dog and cat (and other creature) household. I have vast experience when it comes to caretaking animals, and was breeding and rearing guinea pigs at the age of eight. My folks bred and raised dogs in my teen to college years (cocker spaniels and then English bulldogs), and I have tended to the well-being of the newest of brand new of puppies, the most pregnant of mama dogs, and every walk of canine in between. I nursed my now elderly bebe boy through parvo in his first year of life, rescued a stray kitten from under a neighbor's car and nursed him back from the brink of death (and then adopted him, obviously), and plucked my little girl as an emaciated and abused little pup from the mean streets and spent many patient hours, days, months, years getting her to trust and enjoy the world after early and lasting trauma (you'd never know now; she's grown into the most spunky and affectionate little bub 🥰). There isn't much I can't handle when it comes to the caretaking of creatures. I simply prioritize their calm and trust, and I am always ready with all the cuddles and scritches and runarounds when the time is right, whether right off the bat or after a spell of becoming better acquainted.

Jacq is a wonderful pet sitter/dog walker! She’s very caring and attentive. She always kept my pups well cared for and followed my instructions to a T. She’s very responsible and takes the time to comfort and befriend your fur babies. Definitely reliable and someone you can trust with your fur babies!

Safety, trust & environment

I know how important routine can be to our little dudes. I take copious notes to have on hand for what is typically expected in terms of feeding times, activity levels, favorite toys and treats, off-limit nibbles and allergies, known stressors, and safe spaces. For example, my pups feel most safe in the bathroom, more specifically in the tub, when they are most stressed. Don't know where they picked it up (maybe sensing that's where mama goes when stressed... 😅), but we always pile blankets into an empty bath and snuggle watching loud tv on days with fireworks. I love to know all of those kinds of things when I'm visiting a pet's home so that I can best make their time away from their family as easy and calm and fun as possible.

Information Jacq B. would like to know about your pet

I like to take detailed notes on feeding schedule, any medications, reactivity, behaviors, general demeanor around new humans, other dogs, other animals, and the like. It's always helpful to know favorite toys & treats, too. Additionally, if there are any particular quirks or unique commands your pet has that might be useful to know, lay 'em on me! For example, my big boy will stop eating his dinner to indicate he wants to be let outside to poop, and after he does his business, he'll come back inside and usually finish his dinner. And my little girl is a very smoochy pup, and I inadvertently taught her "that's enough" as the command to not lick people.

A typical day

I love to take long leisurely strolls where the pups get to smell all the new news in the neighborhood. If a yard is available, I'm also a big fan of fetch games and running around playing catch-me-if-you-can with puppos.

I'm a gig worker and performer who works frequently in the evenings, making my days and overnights generally flexible accounting for my other Rover clients and freelance work. Happy to help with walks and drop-ins throughout the day and pet-sitting overnights that do not require full-time presence.
