Pet care experience

Calling all CRAZY HIGH ENERGY DOGS and LAZY COUCH POTATO DOGS! 🐾 Is your high-energy dog tearing up your house or yard because they need an outrageous amount of exercise each day? Oh boy, I've been there! 🐾 Or is your dog so lazy they just want to be left alone but has severe separation anxiety and needs someone to pet them for hours? I've also been there! Experience with: HIGH-ENERGY, SPECIAL NEEDS, SENIORS, DEAF/HEARING IMPAIRED, SPORTS DOGS, ADVANCED TRAINING, SEIZURE PRECAUTIONS, DIABETES CARE INTRODUCING: ANDRE the crazy André is my 3 year old 15lb chihuahua whippet mix. He is incredibly fast, smart enough to manipulate, and has energy for decades. He has an amazing knack of tiring out other dogs. Think your dog is too big for him? He loves to play with all friendly dogs from 2lbs to 200lbs. Plus, they'd have to catch Dré first, and he runs over 28 mph! Dré (Andre NA NAJ NF CAA FCAT2 TKA) competes in agility, barn hunt, and lure coursing (racing) and also holds the Advanced Trick Dog title. He is also a "talking dog" and uses sound buttons to communicate with us humans (yeah, it's pretty wild to witness!). I've trained 4 puppies from 3 months old to adulthood, and since André is still so high energy, I'm definitely used to puppy energy and antics! DEER HAVEN HOMESTEAD Our home was built in 1887 and sits on a half-acre of woodland surrounded by Jockey Hollow park on two sides. We have a secure 4 foot high wire and post and rail fence surrounding the yard. We see a lot of lovely wildlife by being so close to a state park, so there's lots of smells and holes to investigate and trees to pee on for our furry guests. Our little homestead is home to a flock of chickens (all hens), a fenced vegetable garden, fruit trees, and an ample sized yard to run around in. The chickens also have their own fenced off area so don't worry if your dog may react poorly to chickens, they cannot reach them to hurt them. I find most dogs interact well with chickens when introduced properly, so don't be surprised if you get pictures of your fur baby cuddled up with a fluffy hen! Our yard has different features seasonally: dog agility course and training equipment in the warmer months, cuddles by the firepit and sledding in the winter snow, shed hunting (deer antlers) in the early spring, berry foraging and bubble machines in the summer, pumpkin destruction in the late fall, and fetch year round of course! We're easy to get to, right off two main highways and close to Morristown city center/green. If you're wondering about Charlotte, she passed peacefully at home on 12/7/23. Rest in Peace Charlotte 2/25/07 - 12/7/23

My dog Opal loves going to Jaclynns house! She stays with her every time I am in the area for work and it makes things so much easier for me. She is always exhausted at the end of the day from all the activities they do.

Jaclynn took great care of our dog while we were away for a week. She communicated and sent photos often, which we appreciated so much. I highly recommend her.

I truly can not recommend Jaclynn enough. I recently rescued my dog (who is a puppy and has high energy). It was my first time leaving my pup, Frankie, for an extended period of time (and using Rover). After searching high and low through Rover, I thankfully came across Jaclynn. She was AMAZING my entire trip and relieved every bit of anxiety I had. I received so many pictures and updates on how Frankie was doing. Jaclynn even trained Frankie while we were gone and inspired me to get buttons for her to communicate. Frankie was sad to leave (honestly lol). Frankie will be seeing Jaclynn and Andre until the end of time. I was also sent home with fresh eggs from her farm, a toy that Frankie loved, and a printed picture. I will happily drive an hour knowing the love and care she provided for my fur baby. The absolute best!!!

Our dog had a great time at day care with Jaclynn. Jaclynn helped with her separation anxiety, and sent lots of photos, which eased my mind. Thank you Jaclynn!

HOW MANY DOGS DO YOU BOARD TOGETHER? I go off of size, since my house is little and I can't fit too many big dogs. So I take: 1 Large dog (>40lb ish) (dogs over 100lbs on case by case basis) 2 Medium dogs, 25-40lbs or 3 Small dogs, under 25lbs, or any combination of the above that makes sense That could be from the same household or from different households. For daycare, I take up to 4 dogs each day. I still have openings for regular daycare clients to come once or twice a week. If you want your dog(s) to be the only one boarded with me for their stay, I'm happy to do so but I need to charge the puppy rate accordingly so your dog can have my full attention. Puppies <1yo will always be the only ones boarded at no extra charge. Otherwise, your dog will enjoy playtime with another doggie or two just like them! I try to pair dogs that will go well together (two crazies or two lazies, for example!) and have lots of places to separate the dogs from each other if needed. If your dog is new to me, then I will board them with a dog I already know well and trust is well trained and behaved and has stayed with other clients without issue. Is your dog one of the "crazy" like André? Or one of the "lazy" like Charlotte? Just let me know what level of activity you want for your pup and I'm happy to customize their experience based on that. High-energy dogs are extra welcome! They'll get the exercise they need here and come home nice and sleepy for you to cuddle. REGISTERED NURSE AND DIABETES EDUCATOR I'm a nurse, so I'm good with giving meds or first aid, even injectable meds. I'm also a certified diabetes care and education specialist (for humans!) so dogs with diabetes will be in excellent hands.

RULES/RESTRICTIONS: Higher PUPPY rate* charged for: - puppies <1yo - dogs with moderate or severe separation anxiety, or who require constant human attention or supervision - dogs who require medical care above standard oral medications: diabetes, active seizures, wounds that require dressing/cleaning, mobility issues (needs help going up stairs) - Dogs who cannot be left alone in a crate for an hour without becoming destructive * These dogs require a great deal of extra time and attention from me in the same way puppies do, and will be boarded alone so they get that extra time. No aggressive or reactive dogs, no dogs with bite history or the requirement to be muzzled in any situation. Must be up to date on all standard vaccines plus Bordetella every 6 months. Puppies must have appropriate vaccines based on their age. No dogs with extreme prey-drive (or who have killed wild birds before) that I cannot safely separate from my chickens (this is very rare, I'm able to separate my chickens extremely securely) or that could and would jump a 4 ft fence (who are these gazelles?)

EXERCISE Our half-acre yard and Andre's play usually provides plenty of exercise for most dogs. If your dog needs more structured walks, then we're happy to go to Jockey Hollow park right next door for a hike. We also have agility equipment set up in the warmer months for the dogs to play with or train to use depending on the dog's desires. In the colder months, we have a treadmill to provide exercise if needed and lots of puzzles and games to keep their minds busy. Our yard is a perfect sledding spot if we happen to get snow. BEDTIME IS SNUGGLE TIME While André runs the show for daycare, I take over when it's time to close the doggy door and cuddle up to sleep. My dog sleeps in bed with me and yours is welcome to as well. I have a bassinet for older small dogs that may have separation and/or incontinence issues (yes, a bassinet! I swear it works really well). I also am happy to crate your dog overnight if they prefer. I have a collection of dog crates in many sizes, so no need to bring your own.
