Lots of Animal Experience

Pet care experience

My name is Jackie. I've loved animals my whole life and from a young age I knew I wanted to make a career out of that love. I was raised around small dogs and spent 15 years of my childhood caring for and handling horses. For 10 years, I has a Zoo Keeper at Zoo Tampa (Lowry Park Zoo). During my time here I've taken care of a wide variety of animals, from tiny parakeets to tigers and Rhinos with a lot of others in between. During my time in college from 2005 - 2009, I volunteered at the SPCA of Largo for 4 years and took an internship working at a horse rescue which were both amazing experience and started my love of training animals and rescue. I also worked at a doggie day care and a vets office. I also have a couple years of experience with snakes (mainly because I wanted to get over my fear of them :p) I do have some experience with special needs dogs though working at the Daycare, and personal experience with my last GSD (Milo) who was diagnosed with lymphoma at the age of 6. Currently we have one cat, Kairi, Kona is a beagle/shepherd Mix and Echo a German Shepherd. Like I said I have always had a love for animals and love working with, training them and caring for them. These little (or not so little) parts of our families definitely bring joy to our lives.

Every time we pick up our dog from a stay with Jakie and Donald our Moose is beginning to go back.

This was the first time anyone besides family members watched Link, but our worries were eased shortly after meeting Jackie at the meet & greet and seeing how kind and knowledgeable she is. We received many photos everyday and she did a great job of keeping us updated and Link busy throughout the week. We could tell in the photos how comfortable he felt with them which in turn put us at ease, and we will gladly use Jackie & Donald again!

With the hurricane Dorian and Jackie’s responsibilities at work, I was a little worried about my dog’s walking times. However, Jackie has been amazing at keeping me updated on her schedule. Donald has been able to help Jackie with her Rover appointments and so I’m very thankful for her commitment with me and my dog. I truly trust Jackie and I know she takes Rover very serious.

Jackie has been walking my dog for the last few weeks. She likes to exercise with my dog which is something I know not all the walkers are willing to do specially in the summer months. Jackie is also great at answering my sometimes silly questions about how to train my dog. You can tell she has been around dogs for a long time and that makes her very knowledgeable. I 100% recommend Jackie. She is someone you can really trust and depend on.

Information Jackie & Donald B. would like to know about your pet

Have your pups ever been to a dog park or go around other dogs on a regular basis? Do they have a favorite toy to play with? When do they eat and how often? Where do they sleep? How active are they? Do they have any physical limitations (ie no running)? No breed restrictions, and unaltered pets are fine as long as they do fine with my pups. For drop in and walks - typically I'm available M-F after 1pm and any time Saturday or Sunday.

A typical day

What we do all depends on the dogs and what you (the owner) are comfortable with. I have 2 great dog parks around me but know of several more (its always fun going new places). I know of several nature trails and dog beaches. Walks, runs, bike rides, fetch, doggy play with my pups. Lots of people time, cuddles, pets and attention. Treats if they are allowed - my pups aren't allowed to have people food but they still get plenty of treats. My pups need lots of excersice, but two of the dog I watch (a min pin and an itailian grey hound), only like to cuddle and sleep on the couch and that's fine too. Every dog is an individual and has there own personalities, I try to cater to those individualities. As of right now I only take 1 families group of dogs at a time.
