Active dog lover

Pet care experience

I am an active dog lover who believes in play based learning and positive reinforcement. I have many years caring for my animals, from household pets to farm animals. Pet safety, comfort, and happiness are my priorities. My friendly resident black lab puppy will keep us company and ensure lots of supervised playtime during boarding and daycare. For a drop-in or walk, it will be me and your dog one-on-one. The value of proper caregiver bonding cannot be overstated when caring for your dog! My top priority is that both you and your dog feel comfortable with me. My resident pup and I have had lots of professional training in socialization as well as public exposure. For boarding and daycare, I offer kennel space for your pup if they should need it. I encourage you to bring a blanket, stuffed animal, or any other comfort items for them. I keep these items on hand, but I want your dog to feel as close to "at home" as they can while in my care! For drop ins and walking services, I offer feeding, short games (such as a quick game of fetch or tug-of-war), quick brushing, and lots of snuggles! I use food, treat, or other high-value motivators to help shy dogs become more comfortable with my presence. I will not come into your dog's space and make them uncomfortable, I will work to ensure they trust in me during our time working together. For walks, I will take your dog on the nearest safe route. Pet safety is paramount. I would be happy to do a phone interview or in-person interview, as well as "meet and greet" prior to caring for your dog. I understand that not every human and dog are a perfect match, therefore I offer the opportunity to feel it out before trying it out! Note - for boarding and daycare, I require a meet-and-greet in my home with all members of my household present for temperament reassurance. This usually takes around 15 minutes. I am also available for "date night" sitting in evenings on the weekend for several hours. Please contact me to make arrangements.

All dogs are required to be fully vaccinated and licensed (for puppies less than 4 months, must be current on applicable vaccines). I do not accept any dogs with a bite history. Dogs must be house trained to eliminate outdoors only (note - exceptions made for potty training puppies). I do not provide training services, but I will work with existing commands you've established. All boarding dogs must be friendly with children, cats, other dogs, and adults of all genders. Due to insurance restrictions, I am unable to board or provide in-home daycare services any Pitbull, Rottweiler, Doberman, or German Shepherd breeds, including mixes.

A typical day

We will walk in a safe, low traffic neighborhood or go to the woods for an adventure (with owner permission). If the weather permits, we will also walk down to the lake for some swimming (with owner permission). When safe and appropriate, I will allow pups on a long lead to run and play. The type of play activities we will do are: -Tug of war -Obstacle courses -Sniffing games (hunting breeds love this one!) -Enrichment - expect the use of food-grade silicone and appropriate amounts of peanut butter or canned pumpkin (if there is an allergy or other preference, we can accommodate) -Fetch (I use rubber and rope balls instead of tennis balls for dental health) -Supervised social time with my resident dog With owner permission, we may also work on some new "party tricks". This is not a guarantee.
