Growing up, I had pets in and around the household all of the time. These include: two beautiful Labrador Retrievers, an Orange Tabby cat with tiger stripes, chickens (including a wonderful black and gold Araucana), and a large variety of fish. Animals have always had the ability to make me feel happy and whole, and for that I am forever appreciative and indebted. I was raised to treat animals with respect and love, and it quickly became evident that they will treat you the same way in return. In middle school, my childhood friend’s family moved to a farm. I spent nearly every weekend there, helping them to create pastures, lay fencing, and raise farm animals. They had (and still do have) chickens, goats, sheep, one pig, and one donkey. One of the dearest experiences from that time in my life was bottle feeding the sheep warm formula. Seeing them grow and play was so cheerful and rewarding. In the summer of 2017, I worked full-time as a farm hand in New Jersey. There, I had many responsibilities. A few related to animals included: feeding and safely housing a flock of sheep as well as several coups of chickens. This experience further expanded not only my passion and appreciation for animals, but also my ability to take care of them. There are currently no other animals in our household. We live a safe, family neighborhood and have a fenced in back yard. If you’re okay with it, I’d love to bring your pet to the dog park! Another thing to note is that my girlfriend is the definition of a pet lover. She is also a Rover Pet Host and so between the two of us we have lots of Rover experience.
