Jack & Brie Boarding

Pet care experience

I retired from Sandia Labs in 2011 where I worked as a Senior Systems Analyst for Homeland Security. My wife and I then moved away from Albuquerque to find our retirement home either in Nevada or Colorado. Not having felt like we belonged to either state, we realized that our "forever" home was right back where we started.....Albuquerque, NM. As far back as my wife and I can remember, we have always had animals in our lives. Mine with dogs and cats, but, my wife's with dogs, cats, birds, chickens, sheep, rabbits and homing pigeons. My wife also raised hybrid wolves for several years and when we married about 25 years ago, I also was very involved in the raising and breeding of our favorite wolf, Shan-u. When she had a litter of 7 cubs, Shan-u would only allow my wife or myself to handle or play with the cubs. When we lived in Austin, Texas, a wild half Siamese-half bobcat adopted me while we were having a home built in Dripping Springs, which is approximately 15 miles west of Austin. Every night at approximately 9pm, she would wait at the front door of the new house for her evening (and possibly only) meal. After several months of feeding her on the front stoop, she finally trusted me enough to start feeding her just inside the door, and eventually was able to sit next to me on the couch while I petted her. By this time we had already been calling her "Angel" and she would respond to her name. I was offered a job in Albuquerque at Sandia Labs and when we sold the house, we met with the new buyers of our home and explained the unique situation with "Angel", hoping they would also care for her like we did. We hope so. The funny part of this short story is that both my wife and I are allergic to cats, but sometimes a runny nose and eyes and constant sneezing are really just small matters when it comes to the heart! Our home has one room that is carpeted and that is the office. The rest of the house laminate and tile (very animal friendly). Friends who have pets often bring them along for a bbq or dinner/movie time, so we don't have any problems with "messes". As retirees, we are homebodies, but occasionally run errands and do grocery shopping. We have a large backyard that is well fenced and gated and feed the wild birds (approximately 17 different species). We have 5 small raised gardens and fruit trees and often have rabbits and squirrels enjoying the bounty. We both know and understand the value of being responsible, caring and loving animal protectors and would want the owners of pets that have been entrusted to us to also recognize that fact. We have mostly been large dog caretakers but have also owned small dogs, so I guess the only restriction would be that we would probably not be comfortable with pit bulls, Dobermans or any dog that has been known to bite or attack a child or adult.

Our little dog did great with Jack and Brie. I think we have found her home away from home! They seemed to truly love dogs and having them around.

Jack & Brie are amazing!! I can't recommend them highly enough. I had a rescue dog that had been abused & neglected. He took daily medications for seizures & thyroid issues. He was very sweet dog, but he required extra love & attention. Jack & Brie took such wonderful care of him, he was always sad for several days after staying with them. He knew where there home was & would get so excited anytime I drove over in their neighborhood. Thank you Jack & Brie for taking such wonderful care of my dog, Carter!

Jack and Brie are absolutely the BEST!!! My two little adoptees were abused and starved for years. They have few social skills. Jack and Brie worked wonders with them. I can't thank them enough!

Jack and Brie are such warm and wonderful people. They take such good care of our little Missy and we feel very comfortable leaving her in their care. We will definitely call on Jack and Brie in the future. Judy
