Pet care experience
I have a passion for dogs and have enjoyed being a spectator at conformation shows, and last year I began participating with friends’ borrowed dogs! I also like other dog sports and have a special love for herding! My apartment isn’t pet friendly, so I live vicariously through my friends and clients. In the meantime, I love to hangout with my friends pets and sometimes I teach them tricks/basic obedience. I have also studied dog body language and can tell when they are exhibiting signs of stress that most people do not catch. (Ex: Repeated lip licking, yawning, whale eying, ect). I create pet portraits full-time (primarily in watercolors), and also do some pet/dog event photography on the side.

I would make sure the pets have access to water, and food at their scheduled feeding times, and keep a close eye on them as that’s what I’m getting paid to do. If the owner is okay with it, i would probably practice basic obedience with them, and take them for walks/runs. I am also open to driving to nearby parks for leashed exercise as long as the owner can provide an appropriate seatbelt or carrier for the car. If the owner is interested I would be interested in bringing dogs (herding breeds specifically) to herding instinct tests and giving them a great outlet for all that energy!

A typical day
I am a big believer of canine enrichment, which includes mental stimulation. There are so many ways to do this, even beyond the food bowl, I am in a few relevant Facebook groups focusing on this topic. I love to play games with dogs and would enjoy taking them to nearby parks for hikes. I don’t mine getting covered in fur, as I consider it a badge of honor.

I am a full time pet portrait artist. My days are semi-flexible depending on which projects I am working on, but I typically work from around noon to evening or late afternoon depending on that day’s workload.
