I’ve had one dog since I was 7 years old and got another when I was 10—Belgium Shepards— who often required frequent assistance from my siblings and I during the training process. Growing up with more protective dogs allowed me to appreciate their seriousness and alertness though I also spent time with friend’s/family’s dogs who were more calm and friendly. I’ve trained my dogs various commands over the past couple of years and therefore feel comfortable when introducing them to strangers. I’ve also had much experience with taking pets to and from the vet and feel comfortable if needed to take a pet in the car with me.
