Pet care experience
Life-long dog, cat and all-around animal-lover here! Ever since I was a tiny me, I have been magnetized towards our furry friends. I know how to 'read' animals and am gentle yet focused and firm in my care. I am the person people ask to watch their pets (funnily enough, professional acquaintances have also asked me to watch their pets, not knowing I have a long history of doing so for friends and family). I even look after my landlord's dogs when he travels (they love me and I love them.) My family has a recording from when I was 3, which was to be sent to my grandparents in Greece. In this recording, my dad asked me three times to say hi to my grandparents. I demurred. Then he asked me to say hi to the dog that lived near my grandparents, and I eagerly said, "Hi, doggie!" right away. Not surprising :)

Irene has been a dear friend of mine for over seven years and I can honestly say that she is one of the kindest and most responsible people I know. We met while working in a restaurant together so I can also testify to her vast patience and emotional intelligence! Dogs and cats love her, and I've seen her have a sincere and profound connection to more than a few of them over the span of our friendship. She's the girl at the party who would rather spend her time bonding with the host's cat than hanging out with any of the people. I know that I could absolutely trust Irene with even my most precious of cargo!
Irene, my dear friend of 12+ years, is a kind human being, a lover of animals, and a much beloved pet sitter. She has an ongoing caretaking position/love affair with a cat named Dish, with whom she shares a soul connection. She also has the hard won affection of some skeptical dogs. She is exceedingly trustworthy and responsible, a gem of a friend, and any pet would be lucky to have her as an ally in their home or on the streets of New York City.
Irene took care of our dog when we were out of town last month. She was so sweet, attentive and responsive to our rescue dog. Animals love Irene. I highly recommend.

I unfortunately do not watch pitbulls, bull terriers or rottweilers (even though so many of those dogs are gems).
A typical day
We will go to the park! We can play with a ball and other doggie toys :) With cats, I will respect their space and let them come to me at first. Once they have warmed up to me (usually this happens pretty quickly), I will play with their fave cat toy!
