Here’s a little bit about me, and my history with pets 🐶🐱 … - 4 years of professional work experience in the field of “Animal Caretaking/Pet Handler”. ** This involved pet care for both cats and dogs! ** - Has lots of knowledge on animal training, from prior jobs - Trained to handle big dogs up to 190 pounds - Can administer medication in all forms - Pet owner for 12 years! - Flexible schedule MORE ON MY WORK EXPERIENCE: In addition to being a huge animal lover, and having 11 years of personal experience, I have work experience in the field. I have received over 20 service hours working as a Pet Handler/Caretaker for Lost Dog and Cat, which is a rescue organization that holds adoption events weekly. I also worked as an Animal Caretaker at Pender Pet Retreat in Chantilly, VA. This job required me to maintain checklists and schedules to ensure all pets received the appropriate care, and also to complete tasks such as clean kennels, bathe, feed, play with, medicate, walk, and supervise cats and dogs. I unfortunately had to leave that job because of the COVID-19 outbreak, but I have been missing constantly being around fur babies. I also worked as a sitter for the company “Cat Sitting By Susan”, where I visited cats daily to maintain their food/litter and of course, made sure they got lots of love and attention as well! Due to these jobs, I also have lots of experience with medicating animals, through oral injections, syringes, and pills. In addition, for the past few months, I have begun preparation to start a non-profit organization in Puerto Rico. The purpose of this non-profit is to bring in stray dogs and cats to a shelter, and neuter/spay them in order to decrease the numbers of animals being born with no home. I will be doing this all while working on receiving a college degree in Psychology from VCU. PERSONAL EXPERIENCE: First, I have always grown up around animals, especially dogs. I also have a huge soft spot for them. Since I was 8 years old, I have rescued a total of 9 stray dogs and cats, by bringing them into the vet, as well as finding them a proper home afterwards. I have also fostered 9 dogs of all ages and sizes, and helped find them a forever home! I believe my connection and empathy with/for animals makes me a reliable, trustworthy, and responsible sitter. I also have an 11 year old cockapoo at home. He is my best friend, and I couldn’t imagine my life without him. MY QUALITIES AS A ROVER SITTER : I love being a sitter for Rover, because I am able to develop a relationship with the pets that I take care of, and give them 100% of my attention, rather than needing to split my focus equally between the 50+ dogs and cats that are boarding at the kennel or pet retreat. I am also definitely a scheduler, so I like to plan ahead and make sure to be present, on time, and prepared for my commitments. My main goals as a sitter are to ultimately keep your pet(s) safe, comfortable, and happy, as well as making sure that owners feel confident that they left their beloved pet(s) with someone who can be trusted. I pride myself in going “above and beyond” as an animal caretaker, and I really look forward to hopefully meeting you and your pets very soon!
