Pet care experience

I received my first dog whom was a Chow Mix/German Shepard over 25years ago and I've had dogs in my household ever since! Her name was Mystic and she lived to be 13! Since Mystic I have also raised Paco (husky mix who lived to be 15!), Kiko (toy poodle that is currently 15 & still full of life!), Lisha (toy poodle 13), Marley (toy poodle 12), and their mom Sasha. I've watched them grow from puppies up until they were seniors and have always given them so much love! I have experienced it all when it comes to raising pups so I know how to handle most situations with ease. Dogs deserve all the love in the world and I can't wait to take care of your dog!

Idalia is a great sitter - she was super understanding of some scheduling changes I needed to make as well as a last minute addition of giving my dog ear drops each day. She provided detailed updates several times each day with cute pictures and my dog seemed really happy after he came home. Will be booking again!

Idalia was so kind and warm with our pup. She provided excellent updates twice a day with all the important information as well as pictures. She treated our pup like her own and I know he felt right at home for the whole extended weekend. Thank you so much!!

Although I live in an apartment complex, I do have a small outdoor patio that opens up to a lush courtyard where dogs can sniff or potty. There is also a small, fenced outdoor dog park inside my apartment complex. Bayou Buffalo Park is also around the corner from my apartment. The emergency vet hospital (VEG) is less than half a mile from my apartment and I am experienced with the dog heimlich maneuver. I have also "doggie proofed" my apartment and have created a safe haven for my rescue dog Cloud. I have multiple dog beds lying around my apartment and a crate full of dog toys so boredom is never an issue! I also have cool dog puzzles that help stimulate your dogs brain! My dog is allowed on the furniture and also on the bed because life is short, why not :) But if you prefer they not be on the furniture, just let me know! I try to care for your dog just like you care for them so that there is a continuity of care. Please give me as many details about the care of your pup as possible such as specific feeding times, the number of treats they're allowed etc. Sometimes, dogs may need their own space depending on their personality, which I can easily create using baby gates if needed to create a divider. I have a LOT of space in my apartment for your dog to roam since I do not like clutter so I converted my dining room area into my dog's own personal man cave lol theres toys, and a huge area to lounge.

Information Idalia P. would like to know about your pet

Let me know if your dog has any special needs or behaviors that I can account for. Please let me know if your dog is potty trained as this is very important. I have experience with puppies as well as how to handle senior dogs. I have also had experience with blind or deaf dogs and can accommodate. If you prefer we not visit the dog park, please let me know. My dog is 2 years old but is pretty chill with other dogs. He is a rescue but has never shown any aggression towards other dogs. He has passed the standard dog daycare temperament test and always does well during doggy daycare with other dogs but I am good with noticing patterns that may require space or if he needs a break.

A typical day

I do not rush any walks, sniffing is like social media for dogs so I take my time on walks and let dogs sniff as much as they want! If your dog is high energy, I am very active and love going on long walks/runs. Buffalo Bayou Park is right around the corner so there is plenty of space for outdoor activity if its not too hot for your dog! Due to the extreme heat, I have cut my walks with my dog in half to prevent overheating (he is a rescue from Detroit so this Houston humidity is very new to him lol) but if your dog has a higher tolerance, I can go on a longer walk with your dog and leave my dog at home. I work from home and like to take several breaks to play or cuddle with my dog so your dog will get the same treatment! My dog usually has nap-time around the early afternoon and my home has lots of beds for an afternoon snooze! I have tons of dog treat puzzle toys to help enhance mental activity as well as sniff mats to keep your dog happy! I have tons of small treats and peanut butter kongs for rewarding behavior as well :)

I am fully awake by 6:30am thanks to my dog Cloud and I currently work from home from 10am-7pm CST so I have a 3 hour window in the morning for playtime, walks, cuddles etc. Since I work from home, I will always have an eye out for your dog and have a very flexible schedule! My dog loves to cuddle with me while I'm working sometimes and I would be happy to cuddle with your pup as well! I have several breaks in between my shift including a 30min lunch so I can take your pup out for plenty of potty breaks & outdoor sniffs! I am a homebody during the week but love to go to Buffalo Bayou Park on the weekends since its around the corner from my apartment. If its not too hot outside, I like to take my dog to the dog park which has a small dog section at Johnny Steele Dog Park. My apartment is very centrally located, im about 3 miles from downtown, 4 miles from The Museum District etc so you can also leave your dog with me while you are visiting Houston!
