Hiya! My name is Hortencia and I just recently graduated from UC Berkeley. I study food systems and work to support sustainable farmers. I'm from Puerto Rico where I grew up with a pack of wild dogs and lots of cats. My mom is a dog rescuer and taught me the importance of lifelong unconditional love and care. I'm an only child so my pets really were and are like family. I love all dogs (young and old, big and small, big boned and skinny) and have been pet sitting and dog walking on and off for friends and family. I used to care for Beena, a lovely Mastif, who walked me! Dogs are truly intuitive beings so I try hard to make sure they are comfortable and happy. I'd love to extend my services to others and meet more furry friends.

I was very lucky to get Hortencia on somewhat last notice and I appreciate her flexibility. I'm grateful for her helping us out. My dog liked her right away and I'm sure he felt very comfortable with her. She is reliable and trustworthy and treated my pets like they were her own. I hope she liked "us" enough to take on another sit with my "babies"!
Hortencia is one of a few people who could walk our very sweet but very stubborn mastiff, Athena. Being in Brooklyn with many tiny, barking dogs meant taking Athena out could be a challenge. (She was easily spooked and was strong enough to pull any adult wherever she wanted to go!) But Hortencia was calm and confident, and Athena adored her! I’d recommend her to anyone.
I have worked, traveled, lived, and studied with Hortencia over the last ten years. She has again and again proven one of the most reliable, generous, hard-working people I know. Beyond being warm to — and loved by — humans, Hortencia is an animal whisperer. Having grown up in a household full of pets and pet lovers, Hortencia will no doubt become an incredibly popular Rover caregiver. If only all pet owners could be as loving and responsible as Hortencia!
I have known Hortencia for almost ten years. She is an open, gentle-hearted, and extremely responsible person. Hortencia holds herself and others around her to high standards of care and is thorough and thoughtful in each task she sets her mind to. I spent several years living with Hortencia and was witness to her playful ease and thoughtful care with her dogs. I would trust Hortencia with my (future) children and certainly with my dogs as well!

Oh, boy! I live two blocks away from a lovely park near Bellevue Recreation Center with lush green grass and lots of running space. I live in a large home with comfortable space and a deck. A date with me would include long walks to smell the flowers, a fetch sess at the park, and cuddling up to rest for the night.
