Behavioral/medical, home full-time!
Pet care experience
☀️Hi there! My name is Holly. I am the president of a 501(c)(3) animal rescue, Pitties and Kitties Rescue of New Mexico. I live with my partner, Andrew, who is the treasurer of my rescue. We both work from home full-time. We welcome all dogs, any size and any breed. We also don’t mind most behavioral or medical problems! With over 6 years of fostering and volunteering, we have encountered many kinds of behavioral and medical issues. We are happy to accommodate if that applies to your dog. I also have a year of experience working in a veterinarian’s office and a year of experience working as a foster coordinator at a shelter. Our yard is completely fenced-in with a 6-foot concrete fence. We walk all dogs daily for at least 1-2 miles. Feel free to check out our boarding Instagram, which showcases dogs that we’ve boarded and are currently boarding! Our Instagram is @hollyshoundhotel. 📚Experience: We've had our rescue for a year now but we have fostered and volunteered for multiple organizations for over 6 years. We have experience with many breeds, temperaments, and personalities! We’ve fostered all ages of dogs from neonatal puppies to senior dogs and everything in-between. We are both well-versed in dog body language. We constantly interact with dogs on a daily basis while running our rescue. 🐶Separation anxiety? We both work from home and have extensive experience with dogs with separation anxiety. We have several steel, indestructible crates if your dog benefits from one of those at your home. 🐶Dog selective dog or not dog friendly? We have our entire house baby-gated to section off our house. There is separation between the living room, our hallway, and our bedrooms/at-home offices. We have no issue with separating your dog from our other animals for the entire stay. We can do separate walks and separate playtime to make sure your dog still gets exercise and stimulation if they fall under this category. 🐶Not cat friendly? Our cat has her own room and is usually kept separate from the dogs. 🐶Medical problems? Holly has a year of experience in a veterinarian’s office and we have had many medical fosters with various ailments over the years. We are comfortable accommodating most medical needs as long as you just let us know what to do. 🐶Shy or wary around strangers? We have had many shy fosters and we are totally happy to board any shy babies. (Shy babies are Holly’s fav) 🐶Resource guards food or other resources? We keep all feedings separate by default. If your dog guards other resources like toys or something else, we can accommodate that as well. 🐶All this to say, we truly welcome any and all dogs. If your dog has any sort of medical or behavioral problems, we most likely are able to work around it. Just let us know ahead of time what to expect or during the meet & greet.
Reviews
Holly and Andrew are fantastic. They went the extra mile when we had a medical emergency and gladly offered to keep our fur baby for however long we needed them. They were a godsend for sure!!
Amazing! Miko came home exhausted! His step count from his Fi collar was insane. He is an high energy dog and even with other sitters. He got about 15k his step count with other sitters.
Holly and Andrew were amazing sitters! They provided very good care of our dog Gizmo. Like myself they currently work from home, which is great for dogs like mine who are not used to being alone for a long time. They have a lot of fostering experience with dogs with all kind of temperaments. Rooms of their house can be separated by gates for dogs who are shy or might not get along with other dogs. They have cages for multiple dogs, including a sturdy steel one for dogs like mine who have a knack for breaking out. They also have cameras to check in on the dogs if they need to go somewhere. My dog had a blast playing with their dogs, and he got nice long walks every day. They gave Gizmo lots of love and attention. Also they are well stocked on doggy blankets and bowls, which made it easier for me as I only needed to provide his food and leash. Would highly recommend Holly and Andrew!
Holly and Andrew are incredibly caring pet people! I have a wonderful companion animal due to their volunteer work finding homes for dogs who have been in shelters for too long. Since adopting Zola I have left her with them while I’ve taken three different trips. Zola is always happy to see them and I’m happy knowing she will be well cared for including daily walks and lots of loving attention!

🏡Environment: We both work full-time from home so there’s very little time that your dog will be left alone during their stay. We have a fenced-in backyard with a 6-foot concrete fence. Your dog is also welcome on our couch and on the bed in our spare bedroom/home office. If your dog is not allowed on furniture at your house, we can certainly enforce that as well. As we mentioned above, we can absolutely separate your dog from our dogs if you prefer that in our spare bedroom. If you prefer your dogs to be around our dogs, we are happy to facilitate those introductions as well. We have extensive experience with doing dog introductions. All of our dogs are fixed and up-to-date on vaccinations.

We welcome any and all kinds of animals. We can accommodate most behavioral or medical problems! Just let us know ahead of time so we know what to expect and we’re happy to make your fur baby feel at home. We do not require a meet & greet prior to booking with us but may have some questions for you prior to or during drop off so we know what to expect. Intact animals can be boarded with us on a case by case basis. If your animal is intact, please inquire with that being noted and we can talk about logistics. If accepted, boarding an intact animal can result in higher rates.
A typical day
For dogs, a typical day includes a morning potty break and breakfast. If it’s summer, a morning walk that is about 1-2 miles. If it’s winter, a walk in the afternoon that is about 1-2 miles. We feed dinner to the dogs in the evening. While we are usually home most days, we do need to step out occasionally but for no more than 4-6 hours. We are happy to adjust that with the needs of your dog. Our dogs get plenty of time to play in our at-home offices and in the yard throughout the day if you would like your dog to do so. Dogs are offered numerous opportunities to go out to potty. We always crate all our dogs at night and whenever we leave the house. Your dog can either be crated in a separate crate alongside our dogs in the living room or separately in the spare bedroom. It’s totally fine if your dog is not crate-trained! If you prefer your dog to free-roam, we can discuss that just to understand if your dog has any destructive tendencies when left uncrated. For cats, a typical day includes breakfast and a daily litterbox cleaning. If it’s a work day, then Andrew will be in his office to spend time with your cat during the day! We have lots of toys and a cat tree by a window for your cat to look out. In the evenings and on the weekends, we can let your cat out to roam our living room and hang out with us if you are comfortable with that. We feed dinner in the evening.
