Pet care experience
Follow me on Instagram and Facebook at House of Zen Pet Resort, to see all the happy furbabies! Hello fellow pet parents! I recently moved to McAllen with my husband and little baby girl… and I am so excited to be here! I am currently working on my Ph.D. in Nutrition (...and taking a long break from being a mental health practitioner), so that gives me plenty of time to spend at home with my pets, as well as pet-sitting for other families nearby. Please feel free to email me with questions about my schedule and availability. I'd love to provide amazing care for your beloved pet(s)! I've been a pet parent for 30+ years, and I love all animals. I've proudly raised, fostered, rehabilitated and nurtured all kinds of animals including dogs (micro-gigantic), cats, snakes, hedgehogs, hamsters, squirrels, fish, rabbits, frogs, birds, and lizards. I've cared for abandoned newborn and geriatric animals, and rehabilitation is my expertise. I've interned, volunteered and worked at many different animal care organizations including zoos, shelters, vet clinics and rescues. My entire life has been dedicated to helping and loving animals of all kinds. Experience: My animal care background includes years of experience as a veterinarian technician at three DFW animal hospitals, animal behavior modification training at the University of North Texas’ ORCA program, Board Certified Behavior Analyst with initial training in animal behavior and over 30 years experience of being a devout animal lover, animal rescuer/rehabilitator, pet sitter and pet parent. I have experience in medication administration including oral and injection, grooming, bathing, nail clipping, teeth brushing, wound care, eye injury care, epilepsy care, handicapped animal care and other medical care for many different species of animals. I would love to provide daily walks, exercise, play and enrichment activities for your pet in their preferred space (your home) or community outings (i.e. dog parks!). I can't wait to meet your furbabies!!!
Reviews
As a return client, we were once again pleased with the care and attention Hillary gave our Lola. Hillary and her family treat our Wiem like it was one if their own. They are awesome! Thanks Hillary!
Outstanding customer experience! Hillary gained Lola's trust right off the bat. She cared for her like her own. We've already setup another date for her to stay with Hillary. Thank you kindly!
Hillary was fantastic - made me feel at ease and looked after Indie so well. Would definitely recommend to anyone that needs someone to take great care of their pet!
I always worrie when leaving my fur baby with anyone. Hillary really made me feel comfortable. The questions she asked made me really feel that she cares a lot. She made things easy, and Ruby came back happy!!! I highly recommend Hillary when you need your dog to be loved and cared for when you are away!

Information Hillary L. would like to know about your pet
We would like to make sure your pet is well socialized, fully vaccinated and healthy when we care for them at our home. As a previous vet tech and pet parent to neurologically sensitive pets, I understand that vaccines aren't always feasible for your pet's health. If your pet is not vaccinated, I am still available to care for them in your home. If your fur baby requires medication administration, no problem, I’ve got plenty of experience in that area, including oral meds and injections. I'm familiar with caring for pets diagnosed with epilepsy, diabetes, skin disorders and eye injuries, among other medical issues. At this time we can only accept very small breeds for boarding and day care, due to limited space. If your doggie has any behavior issues, such as extreme separation anxiety, is destructive to property or has shown any past aggression to other animals we won’t be able to host them in our home. We keep our residence very quiet and peaceful for all of our comfort and enjoyment. Having one unhappy pup in the group makes it hard on the rest. Thank you for understanding.
A typical day
Long walks to the Park, or around your neighborhood! Visits to Nearby dog parks, with approval from the owner and passed socialization test. Treats, lots of hugs and kisses, and lots of belly rubs and petting! We also provide bathing, nail clipping and grooming upon request, for an additional fee. :)
