When I was a freshman in high school we rescued a terrier named barley. My family has had him for almost six years now although I bore most of the responsibilities that came with him. Examples being: feeding, potty training, walking, teaching tricks and creating a safe loving environment for him. He was incredibly anxious and even aggressive at times when we first had him but over years of love and support he has become a much more pleasant dog. Then about two years ago we got dandy. A baby basset bound and was, and still is, a sweetheart. This is also the time where I really learned what to do and not to do while potty training and allowing certain behaviors. I love dogs because of the things they require me to do to be a responsible pet owner, like go on walk in nature.
