Pet care experience
I'm a retiree who cannot imagine life without animals. For 35 years, I shared my house with many rescue dogs and kitties. My last "pack" consisted of three doggies and one cat. What I find interesting in animals is that each of them, no matter the breed, has a different personality and character, just like us people. Unfortunately, all my pets died within the last two years of old age (16, 16, 15, and 13) and I'm alone for the first time in my life. Since I'm not ready to adopt more animals right now, in October 2023 I decided to become a pet sitter on Rover to take care of your pets big or small. I believe in rescuing animals not buying them and I'm an active volunteer for the Mid Atlantic German Shepherd Rescue. I've read many books and articles about dogs and attended dog seminars by Susanne Clothier and Cesar Milan. If you leave your fur babies with me, they will be loved, well taken care of, happy and safe.

As always, Helena was great for our girl Jazz for an overnight stay! She kept us updated and took her on lots of walks and gave her lots of love. Don't hesitate to have your pup stay with Helena!

Helena was excellent in taking care of my dog Goldie while I went on a two weeks trip. She communicated with me daily on Goldie’s activities with pictures. Goldie is a reactive and sensitive dog so I was kind of worried in the beginning. In addition to playing and taking care of Goldie, Helena got to know Goldie’s temperament and worked on training her which was beyond her responsibility. You can just know that Helena is a dog lover and has great experience with dogs. She is also very caring and pleasant. I feel safe leaving Goldie with her care. I will definitely come to her next time when there is a need.
From the moment you meet Helena you can tell she is a dog lover -- her face literally lights up. That means she's not only looking after your pup... she is enjoying and getting to know your pup's personality! I dropped my dog Sampson off for a day of doggie daycare expecting her just to look after him and take him for a walk. But she went above and beyond, adding notices about what they were "working on" together. I'd definitely use Helena again!

A typical day
Whether in your home or mine, I take doggies for at least two long walks a day and let them out a couple of times for potty breaks and play time in the yard. I always give them attention and love understanding their emotional and mental needs. I reinforce basic obedience commands and encourage good behavior. I consider playtime a very important component of all animals' lives, so I will play with your kitties, doggies and other furry "babies" every day.

Availability
Pets were always a very important part of my life and my daily schedule revolved around their needs. Now, when I'm retired and mostly stay home, I have a lot of time for your pet. Even when sometimes I will have to leave home to do some chores, your pet will never be left alone for more than 2-3 hours and will never be neglected.
