Growing up I would take care of our menagerie, neighbours' animals and friends' animals. I loved all the creatures with their unique personalities. I have had 9 of my own cats and 6 dogs. My home is spacious and comfortable with many rooms to accommodate cats and dogs. There are 2 separate rooms and an enclosed large kitchen. There are also plenty of trails around to explore - one of the best is the 16 mile creek trail. A typical day consists of 3/4 walks and however many needed potty breaks. Massages and play are also super important part of a day.

This was my first time leaving my 8 month old puppy with anyone overnight. Helen was recommended to me by a friend who used her previously. When I met Helen I could tell she really had a passion for animals. Lily stayed with her for 4 nights. I recieved daily pictures of Lily playing with the other dogs. I do believe Lily had a enjoyable time with lots of walks and playtime. I plan to use Helen again for future overnight trips

Helen has watched my two puppies on two separate occasions for a total of 9 days. She has provided a safe and loving home to them and I am very grateful for connecting with her via this app. Helen has gone above and beyond by providing the loving home but by also providing me with several recommendations on puppy health, holistic treatments and diet. Please pay attention if you are a pet owner because this sitter was a disaster on the day of my booking when I went to drop my dog. We had a flight booked and after Helen meeting my dog twice she cancelled on me 6 hours before my flight left. I had met her twice before for about 1 hour each time so she could be familiar with my dog and both times she did not indicate she had any issues with my dog. However both times she did not let me in the house. She wore a mask so I assumed she was afraid of COVID. The night I went to drop my dog off I heard several dogs barking and she seemed overwhelmed. She also was behaving oddly darting in the house and leaving me on the porch. Next after having my dog for about 5 mins she texted me to say” he is whining this is not good.” I assume he may have been scared in a new environment, which is normal. Within mins I received another text, “ he is barking, this is upsetting the other dogs.” I was baffled, all the dogs were barking when I dropped him off. At this point she advised me that she would call some name Fernando who I have never met to look after my dog instead of her being the sitter. This was insane to me since I did not know this person at all. I went to pick my dog up after this since she already seemed overwhelmed and I was worried about my dog. I have left my dog in the past with a sitter on the Rover app and had zero issues. Helen seems to have some issues and may have been overwhelmed by the sheer number of dogs she is looking after. An absolutely terrible experience!! Helen its frightening and in retrospect if a dog that is new to your home is scared and you cannot manage this and immediately text the owner I wonder about your ability to care for dogs. Pet owners please be aware! Horrible experience!!! You should get zero stars but I could not submit the review otherwise!

I check nails to make sure they aren't too long and offer nail trimmings and/or baths if need be. I have groomed some dogs for their caregivers. I offer bone broth as a treat that I make or pick up from Meateaters. I also can provide organic snacks.

A typical day
I can set up play dates, which I have done for 10 years, with potential dog friends and I always take them to the 16 mile creek trail or the soccer field with its soft grass. i especially try to do the hills with the younger dogs. I also try to show them new trails on different days so new smells and new friends.

Availability
I have looked after many cats and dogs for 20 years. An animal communicator once told that i am better with cats than i am with dogs. But i love them both. My style is holistic and I can feed raw food, good quality wet, cooked food and good quality dry food. And I can't feed Royal Canin or Hills food or Purina or Blue Buffalo. Our house is a senior home so it tends to be soothing and quiet. Dogs are free to sleep wherever they are comfortable - there are dog beds in the various rooms and there are 2 laps to lie on or curl against and 4 hands for petting. I completed an emergency first aid course for animals using homeopathy. I can also groom your animal during their stay.
