Pet care experience
Unlike most people, I absolutely love both dogs and cats. I've spent time with friendly and more isolated cats, and have taken care of dogs of many kinds, mainly small and medium sized dogs. I’ve cared for puppies and senior dogs, and have lots of experience giving dogs medicine and keeping on them when they’re healing. I love walking dogs and working with them to keep them well behaved on their walks, and love cuddling and hanging out with cats.

Helaina is an amazing sitter! They did an amazing job taking care of my cat. I got tonnes of updates and photos and felt really at ease with them taking care of my cat, something I usually find really stressful
Helaina was an absolutely wonderful sitter for me over the holidays. They were flexible, kind, and attentive. I got lots of updates on how my cat was doing and felt completely confident in Helaina caring for him as if he was their cat. She also left my apartment as clean if not cleaner than it was when I left! Will book again!!
Healing is the best! From the moment we met, I felt totally comfortable with leaving Murphy with her. Murphy is an older dog that does require a little more attention than others. Helaina was great, and making sure he felt comfortable in his new surroundings. I would highly recommend Helaina and would definitely use her again!

I think the care of a pet depends on what the client wants/what the pet likes. If there is a super cuddly and playful pet, I'd make sure they get plenty of love and play time. If they were a bit more shy and self isolating, I wouldn't push myself on them but still make sure that they had whatever they needed, food, water, etc. I never have more than one family’s pets at a time in my house - whether doggy day car or boarding, my attention will entirely be on your pets.

Size, daily routine, level of training, and how well they interact with other dogs so I know how to act when we pass another dog on our walks. With level of training, that includes bathroom habits/whether they’re house trained and whether or not they bite. I cannot care for dogs who bite. If it is a puppy who is being trained, I tend to redirect the biting to toys to help with training, but larger dogs that bite playfully who could potentially hurt me, I cannot care for.
A typical day
I enjoy walking through parks and around any area with lots of trees. I live in an apartment complex with plenty of area for the dogs to roam around and play, as well as a small dog park.

Availability
Taking care of pets is a great way to break up my normal routine. I'm hoping that walking dogs in my neighborhood will encourage me to get outside a bit more and get me a bit of extra exercise. Coming home to a pet also gives me something to look forward to at the end of the day.
