An Olympian animal carer helping to fund my career
Pet care experience
I’m an Olympic professional marathon swimmer who competed in the 2021 Tokyo Games. I train 10 times a week (30 hours) which leaves me with a large amount of time for other hobbies or activities such as caring for pets. I’ve grown up and looked after pets all my life with 3 dogs and 2 cats. I regularly look after my parents dog currently which is a Giant Schnauzer named Reggie so I am prepared for all shapes and sizes.

I live in an enclosed residence which is only accessible by a motored gate. My garden is completely enclosed by metal rails with the garden being an approximate 60m2. I have a large old bean bag for visiting dogs to lounge or sleep on and a tiled floor throughout the bottom floor which works very nicely if visiting pets are still in the process of being house trained. My house is located right next to 2 dog friendly parks and further parks are within a short walking distance.

A typical day
Between swimming sessions I like to go on walks for a change of scenery from the swimming pool but also to relax my mind from the high pressures I experience in elite sport. I find walking very therapeutic and doing it with a pet makes it even more special for me.

Availability
I am a professional swimmer so I train most mornings at 6.45-8.45am and then again in the evening at 5.45-8.00pm - this leaves me a large amount of time in the day to care for and walk pets. I also have Wednesday + Saturday afternoon away from the pool along with The whole of Sunday.
