Heather's Heavenly Haven

Pet care experience

Hey there! Welcome to my page ☺️ I'm excited to be boarding again! I am now located in a nice neighborhood in Salem, just off of Woodland Hills Drive, about 10 minutes from the freeway. I live with my sister and her 2 children (ages 16 and 10, who love and do well with dogs), as well as our 3 dogs, two large (mine) and one small (my sister's). Please read the following before deciding to book with us: -I require at least 48 hours notice for any service request, but will make exceptions for returning clients if I am able to. Other than that, I am not able to accept same day/last minute requests. -I ask that your pup be friendly (or at least tolerant) with both large and small dogs, low to moderate energy, completely potty trained, kid friendly, and non-destructive. If issues involving these arise during the stay, I can make arrangements for a new sitter, or I will ask that you come pick up your pup. No exceptions. -My sister's dog is unaltered. So unfortunately, I am unable to watch unfixed dogs. -I have a female (fixed) 6yo German Shepherd named Kahla, and a male (fixed) 10yo Siberian Husky named Beau. They both love other dogs and are very good at reading other dog's energy. Since they are both older, while they do love to play sometimes, they also love to just hang out too, and will not bug your pup into playing if your pup would rather just chill. That being said, since quarantine, they have developed the tendency to get overly excited when greeting a new friend. We have actively been working on this, but it is taking some time. Because of this, I do very slow introductions over the course of a few hours to ensure the comfort of both yours and my dogs. I know this can be an issue for some who might like to do a quick meet-and-greet to make sure they get along ok before chosing to board, so I apologize for the inconvenience. Rest assured, your dogs safety and comfort is my number one priority while they stay here. Once my pups calm down, you'd never guess they'd have the audacity to have such bad manners. Your dog then becomes a part of the family. 💜 -I am unable to care for puppies and high energy dogs. My dogs are older, and while they like to play, they can only play for a few minutes at a time. Due to my health, I am also unable to meet the needs of puppies and high energy dogs. If your dog ends up requiring more than we are able to give during their stay, I will have to find a new sitter to take them, or have you come pick them up. -I am only able to watch up to 1 small or one medium dog at a time in my home. I currently work from home, so I am able to offer 24/hr supervision. If I have to leave for any reason, I take proper precautions to ensure that the dogs are safe and comfortable. We don't kennel unless you'd like us to, can provide a kennel or separated gated area, and our top priority is that your loved one is always in a safe, calm, but fun environment. We are eager to exceed the expectations of you and your companions, and give both you and your pups peace of mind while you're apart. There will always be something to share with you while you're away, and we will send you pictures and videos while you are apart! -The yard is currently unfenced, but we have 30 ft leads to place them on, and also a huge pit area out back to throw the ball if your pup can be off leash. I never leave the pups unattended when they are outside. Please feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns! *A little bit about my experience: My world revolves around these four legged friends. I have a tremendous amount of love for, and experience working with animals, especially dogs, of all shapes, sizes, ages, and personalities. A lot of this experience came from previously being employed at a boarding facility, where I supervised as many as 70 dogs at a time for several hours. My goals are to become a behavioral coach, to train and work with guide and service dogs, or possibly work with Search and Rescue or K9s. I also hope to one day open a rescue and/or a sanctuary.

I have both a small and large crate available, and each level in the home is completely separated from the rest, if your pup needs some space or alone time. My two larger dogs love to play and keep other dogs company. I never leave dogs unattended together. I also do not leave them unattended outside, whether here or if I am doing care in your home. Due to having owned huskies, I take extra precautions and am extra careful when entering and leaving, as I know some pups love the chance to escape. So rest assured that I will do absolutely everything I can to make sure I do not accidentally let them out. I do not feed dogs together for the safety and comfort of all dogs, unless I'm in your home and you've let me know that that is completely ok to do.

Information Heather W. would like to know about your pet

Please let me know if your dogs take any oral medication, or have any particular allergies or a specific diet. Also, please let me know if they are particular in any way, such as if they need to eat alone, have favorite toys, like to sleep in a crate, if they like to be pet or loved in a certain way, or anything you think I need to know to make sure they are happy while you're away. I will do everything I can to be accomodating and make their stay as comfortable as possible.

A typical day

We like to take walks around the neighborhood. It is nice, quiet, and pet friendly. There is also a huge pit just outside of our yard where kids come to play and sled, and will also play with the dogs sometimes. We love to do trick boards, hide and seek, fetch, and provide plenty of cuddles. :)
