I love cats and dogs!
Pet care experience
I've been a cat parent for six years and a dog mom for three years and they've made my life so much better. I've been taking care of cats for more than 10 years, at first cat sitting and taking care of my roommate's pets before getting my own cat. I have experience working with shy, timid cats as well as really vocal ones. I completed a Pet First Aid & Disaster Response course, that I renew every two years. I know how to give cpr and administer medication, as well as give injections. I try to keep updating my pet care and pet first aid knowledge. I also try and make my home environment as comfortable as possible for the animals that visit. I have many dog and cat toys, extra harnesses, treats, and dog beds of varying sizes. Since I don’t have a yard, I do take the dogs out regularly, but I would recommend another person if you think your dog would need a yard to feel comfortable. I’ve done volunteer work for Seattle Humane, focusing on dog enrichment. I started fostering last year, and started up Rover boarding this year. I’m comfortable with small - medium dogs, but also some non reactive and leash pulling large dogs. I have dealt with reactive dogs before, but for their snd everyone’s safety, I prefer to avoid putting the dog in that situation. So I can’t watch more than one extra dog or give walks to more than two dogs at a time. The large dogs seem to do well in my apartment so far, it depends on the dog however. I try to provide enrichment with chew treats, toys, puzzles, and kongs while I work at my computer during the day. I’ll give them at least an hour of walking per day, and if there’s time we go to parks, trails, or the dog park, depending on the dog. I fostered then adopted my cutie Izzy three years ago. She is small poodle chihuahua dachshund mixed breed and 16 pounds. She is very friendly around new dogs, but will anxiety bark a lot around other humans. When I do a meet and greet, I bring her along.
Reviews
Heather was great with Dezi. She kept us updated throughout the days she was watching Dezi and sent us plenty of pictures. Highly recommended!
I highly recommend Heather as a pet sitter for small/medium size dogs. My trouble maker Keeshond was recently cared for by Heather while we were abroad. Heather handled our pup and his behavior with great tenderness and intelligence. Our dog is a trickster and Heather seemed to keep him in line while also showing him affection and care. My dog easily bonded with Heather which says a lot.
Totally outstanding So so good ? We and our puppy ? are so so happy with Heather Just fantastic Thanks you
Heather clearly loves dogs. My dog seems to have enjoyed her stay with Heather. Thank you Heather!

I found that I really miss fostering and volunteering and thought that the perfect side job for me would be to take care of other people's dogs and cats! I provide enrichment through toys, treats, and puzzles. I also have an updated certificate in pet first aid and disaster response. My dog is a little anxious and excited when first meeting, but she is sweet and will respect your dog’s personal space. I also have a cat who is very friendly and curious, but mostly she will leave other dogs alone. She’s surprisingly friendly around new cats and doesn’t hiss when first meeting them, but she will hiss if annoyed, but just as a light warning. I don’t host dogs that wouldn’t be comfortable around a cat. If it’s an unknown sort of thing, I will keep the cat and them separated. I also use a dog gate to partition off areas for meal time sometimes, or just to keep everyone in their own personal space if needed.

Information Heather S. would like to know about your pet
Let me know if your dog has any special needs or behaviors I should account for. What are their favorite walking spots or their favorite treats that I can bring? Also, if they need to be groomed, you can bring their comb and I can take care of basic combing in case they get matted easily.
A typical day
I love to provide enrichment your dogs physically and mentally. We'll play a bunch of games, check out all of the new smells in my neighborhood, and explore a park near my home. Depending on your dog’s dietary restrictions, I’ll make them an enrichment treat with a Kong or frozen kibble. My dog is friendly and will seek to play occasionally if your dog is receptive to that, but she’s fairly independent and will chill most of the day. I try to get in at least an hour of walking outside with them every day. I try to hang out with the dog in the evenings on my couch with them to help build trust and comfort.

Availability
I live in the Bellevue/Redmond area and I work a full-time job mostly from home(I’ll be in the office once a week occasionally, but if I’m hosting, I avoid it). If I am away from home, I have a ring cam that I turn on to keep an eye on everything. I am available for meet and greets any time on the weekend and at noon or after 5pm on the weekdays. I'm also available for limited walks (on the weekends) and check ins(any day of the week).
