My name is Heather J. and I am 28 years old. I have recently moved to the Highland Park area of LA and I would love to meet some new friendly faces and their fur babies! I have many years of experience working with both traditional pets, exotic pets, and wild animals. I’ve previously worked at the Clearwater Marine Aquarium, Nassau Humane Society, and Banfield Pet Hospital. I have a Maine Coon feline named Max and a female Bearded Dragon named Chaka Khan. Because of this I do not offer overnight sitting in my home as one of my services. I am looking for opportunities that involve dog walking, errand running, and in home care and sitting. Heather has an incredibly diverse background in caring for animals. I hired her on multiple occasions to help me with my parents who were long time foster parents for the local humane societies. As they got older they weren't able to take care of the animals and themselves like they wanted. She came by every day to help with the dogs and cats. She is highly proficient in administering medicine, identifying issues, and general care of most animals. I would recommend her to anyone looking for a truly professional and caring individual to help with your pets.

I have no biases or preferences when it comes to breed, ALL BREEDS WELCOME. I would like to know the dogs general personality. Does the dog have any type of aggression in its history; whether that be towards people, other dogs/animals, food guarding, toy guarding, etc. If the dog does have any issues regarding aggression it is NOT a problem or an immediate deal breaker. I would rather the client be completely open and honest about the pets behavioral patterns without fear that I wouldn’t or couldn’t deal with it. I would also like to know about the relationship between the dog and the owner; the owners disciplinary style and reward system so that I do not upset the dogs training patterns.
A typical day
I would like to speak with the owner and get an idea of areas they generally take their pets on walks so that the pet would be familiar and comfortable with the area. I want to get the owners opinion about various locations and activities that I could engage their pets with but most importantly I would like to have the owners permission before going anywhere with their pet. The types of activity a dog (or other type of pet) would enjoy with me would depend on the individual pet as every pet is different and enjoys different types of play and stimulation.
