I love your dog(s) already!

Pet care experience

I grew up with dogs - loving on them AND taking care of them. I lost my soulmate black lab, Sierra, a few years back and just can't get another dog. But I am severely lacking in tummy rubs and romps in the park! Let me spoil your dog PLEASE! I have raised three dogs from puppyhood. I know the basics around training and dominance. I know that regular exercise and mental stimulation (hunting for treats, working a treat out of a Kong, learning a new trick, etc) are a quick path to a happy pup! (Along with the tummy rubs and butt scratches of course.) I have nursed all of my dogs through the end of their life. Never had to do injections of any kind, but I know how to boost the arthritic into the car and coax them to take their medicine. I have a walking route as short as 5 minutes so the old pup can get some good smells and mark a little territory even in the twilight years. Please note: -I struggle with dogs with separation anxiety. It's hard to tell who feels worse! 😭 -My primary way to exercise dogs is by walking on a leash in the park next door. I need your dog to be decent on the leash. -I have an Airbnb onsite so I can't have barking or howling, especially if I have to leave to run an errand. I'm home most of the time but I want to be free to go to the grocery store or a medical appointment with my mom without worrying about the pup(s).

Heather leaves you with no hesitations , bounds of confidence and security. Her dog care is sincere and thorough and positive. She is great at communicating and truly loves your pets. I highly recommend her for all your animal care needs. I’m very thankful to have met and chosen her for my pups.

Heather took great care of Barney! She sent lots of pictures and it was obvious that he was happy and well looked after. I would absolutely use Heather again!

Heather loves our pup like he was her own! Our pup is showered with love, attention and gets 2 walks while at Heathers house for doggy day care! I appreciate she’s been very accommodating to any rules/ behavior things we’ve been focusing on and continues to reinforce what we’re working on. I feel so comfortable leaving our pup in Heather’s loving care and I’m so thankful we found her!

I've known Heather for years and she has watched my dogs several times. Including my very large black lab-great dane mix through his puppy years; helping train and teach him doggy manners! She is absolutely a dog lover. I know my dogs will get plenty of exercise and tons of love when they stay with her. She's also good with my senior dog who now has arthritis and requires extra meds and gauging of how she's feeling in a day. She's never left out of the fun, but given space and downtime when needed.

I have a large fenced backyard. In the summer I leave the slider open so pups can come and go as they please. Gravel and bark, so it's hard to get muddy in the rainy season. I love working from the couch with a dog beside me. But if you're a not-on-the-furniture family, I will support that. I have a dog bed next to my bed for overnight guests. I live with my partner Jim who is definitely a yellow lab reincarnated. He's a dog lover with experience as well but just doesn't work from home.

Information Heather C. would like to know about your pet

Most important is how they do on the leash and how they get along with other dogs, as we will encounter them regularly on walks. The area for playing fetch is very large, but not fenced. I need to know if that will be a problem. Please let me know of any food issues, preferred discipline methods, incontinence issues, and medications. I'd also like to know what behaviors you're working on encouraging/discouraging so I can reinforce your training.

A typical day

A typical day with me is as follows: -Morning walk in the park a block away. Mix of bark and pavement. Always a ton of other dogs to meet! I walk a minimum of 20 minutes but most often 40 (unless the dog has other needs). -Once or twice a day, I'll either provide a treat in a Kong or hide treats for the pup to sniff out. -Pets every time I get up from my desk or work/cuddle time on the couch or floor. -Dogs can come and go to the fenced backyard. Feeding schedules and treats are based on the dog parents' direction. I have had dogs with allergies/sensitivities. I know how rough it can be on tummies and skin to have the wrong foods on board.

I work from home (with a dog bed right next to me!). I have a few regular online meetings, but a TON of wiggle room when it comes to how I spend my time. I am self-employed so I am the boss of my schedule. I am a regular walker and believe in walking dogs at least twice a day and having 1-2 mental activities (I like hiding treats and letting them sniff them out). I live one block away from a giant park where we can walk the two-mile loop or throw a ball in the (unfenced) field for some sprints. I still have dog beds, a water bowl, toys, a Chuckit, and other goodies on hand. We always save beef bones in the freezer for a special treat!
