Pet care experience
Hello and thanks for looking at my profile! I had to close my books for awhile and have just reopened them so please excuse the lack of recent reviews. I have worked in animal care for 25 years. I've been a trainer, groomer, vet assistant and worked at multiple boarding and day care facilities over the years. My passion is dogs, cats are a close second, but also have plenty of love and skills caring for all kinds of pets including birds and farm animals. I have limited experience with horses, but would love more so please consider me for farm sitting as well.
Reviews
Heather is an amazing sitter. She has a lot of experience is very kind hearted. She was very flexible and communicated constantly as needed.
Heather was nice enough to keep my dog on a holiday weekend. She took great care of him and was flexible with our schedule. I’ll definitely try to use her services again.
Heather is a true professional. She puts the safety and well being of your animal first. I highly recommend.
Porkchop thoroughly enjoyed ringing in the new year with Heather and Louis. Heather is very responsive and good about sending updates and photos. The drop-off upon my return was a godsend. Louis was a great new partner in muddy crime for Porkchop to get his energy out and his appetite up (sometimes not an easy task when I am away). Will definitely book again.

Safety, trust & environment
I feel that caring for animals is my calling and I'm very comfortable and confident in my abilities in this role. If I'm caring for your precious pets I'll literally guard them with my life and indulge them as if they were my own. My dog, Louis is a two year and a half year old Catahoula/ Great Pyrenees mix who loves to play so he is great company for other dogs I'm boarding. I also recently acquired another mix who is about 9 months old and a good playmate as well. However, if either are too enthusiastic for your pet I can easily give yours space from them. I can only accept dogs that are well socialized and have no history of aggression with other animals. I am usually not gone from the house more than 2-4 hours at a time, so pets staying with me need to be able to tolerate being alone briefly, preferably in a crate.

Information Heather C. would like to know about your pet
Please let me know any medications or special needs your dog has, as well as any fears or quirks. Also, let me know their favorite things, ways they like to be handled, etc. If you intend to board your pet with me for multiple nights for the first time I like to do a 30 minute "meet and greet" before hand. If you know your pet is anxious in a new setting, I like to do a full day of daycare before a multi night stay.
A typical day
A typical day includes playing in backyard, cuddling, playing with other boarded dogs including my own dog and a walk in the woods/ splash in the creek. Plenty of downtime is offered for the mellower personalities. If your dog just likes to cuddle on the couch I'm always happy to have an excuse for some binge watching Netflix!

Availability
I've lived in McDowell County for 7 years where I'm very familiar with the amazing trails in the surrounding area, which is where I walk my own beloved dog, Louis, so if your dog likes to hike, I'm your girl. I have my own dog-friendly home with a very secure fenced yard and a dog door. Should you board your pet in my home, they will be allowed on furniture and on bed...or not, if you prefer. If I am doing a drop-in at your residence I take the upmost care to be respectful and safe while at your home/ property.
