I have taken care of animals of all shapes and sizes since I was 5 years old. We’re a family of rescuers, meaning our house was a little bit like a zoo growing up! I have always loved animals, owning dogs, rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters and horses throughout my whole life. As well as having my own pets, I have been trusted by family and friends to look after their pets, whether this is for house sitting or for dog walking. Growing up around rescued animals, I have adapted a quiet and loving approach to their care. Many of these animals, particularly dogs, have come from homes where they have been abused and mistreated leaving them scared to trust again. It’s very rewarding to help these animals learn to be loved again and watching them get their unique characters back is one of my favourite things! My dog Primrose was very nervous when we first got her, she was too scared to go near us, to eat or even to sit down due to her history of abuse. She’s still shy now but will happily play with me and cuddle up on the sofa. It took a lot of time to gain her trust but the experience really helped me learn how to care for nervous animals.
